I heard there were fairly recently a couple of feuding neighbours lived there. I remember seeing boarded up windows and paint thrown at a house. I'm sure that's not the norm tho.Norn Iron Club Member 3300

Seatzie, yes they are around the corner from Oval. Very good houses. Parking is usually not that big of a problem there are always spaces near to the door. Plus, 2 minutes walk gets you there before kick off!
Jenny-wren, you are thinking if the social houses down the road from Lewis. Its typical that people get nice new and usually free social houses and have no respect for them. Lewis is a private development and is much too respectable to have paint throwing and windows boarded up. Take a look around the place and you will see for yourself it is highly desirable.0 -

Have you thought about looking in the malone - upper malone area, it's very quiet and within easy reach of the city centre. There is a bus lane from the end of Balmoral Avenue straight into town.
Greystown is a pretty good area, I know a few people who have lived there and have had no trouble and loved it. It's also very close to Mary Peter's track and the tow path.
Trossachs is also quite nice, and you could also think about Dunmurry, if you keep close to the main lisburn road, eg Kingsway, Dunmurry lane etc you should find somewhere nice. I think it would be quite a bit cheaper and there is never much hassel.

Thought I would update y'all as to our escapades in Belfast. We went on another trip to Belfast last Friday and after looking at some more dives, sorry houses in Belfast (we went to see three properties with McGeown and they brought us to 3 student houses which we refused to even enter) we had but given up when we thought we would check out if we could view some houses advertised in the Belfast telegraph. Phoned in regards to a house off the Belmont Road, went and saw it, loved it and thanks to the great advice we got here, got the rent down from £700 to £650- its a fantastic detached house in a lovely residential area and are moving next Tuesday:D
A HUGE BIG THANK YOU to everyone that has helped us along the way and am so glad I had the advice on this forum to help us find the home we wanted:)
So, two things- if anyone is looking for help in getting somewhere in belfast, please do contact me as I think I have learned more about areas outside the south of Belfast in the last two weeks than I ever did in the 10 years I lived in belfast:)
Secondly, if there is ever a MSE NI get together....I owe a few of you a drink or two...:)
Thanks again, NoreenXX0 -
