Ditto on the Ballyhackamore/Belmont area. Loads of places to rent, just be very careful, there are some really dodgy properties out there, good luck.

Another vote for Ballyhackamore/Belmont. Before moving to the East, I lived in the Lisburn Road area and much prefer it here...good shops, schools, places to eat etc but much quieter.

Saintfield Road, Newtownbreda, Four Winds, Beechill Road all okay. Actually I know someone who has a nice semi in the Beechill Road area (just off Saintfield Road and close to schools, bus routes, supermarkets etc) currently available for rental. Problems with previous residents and the owner being abroad meant that it hasn't been rented again.

Ormeau does have a few flags this time of year but don't let that put you off, it's a very nice village feel with lots of nice little shops and delis and should be plenty of rental properties around. I'd put it top of the list personally. Ravenhill/Ardenlee are also nice, and newtownbreda as well depending on how far out you're prepared to live. Watch out for the HMO issue though - you'd want to know if you're sharing a party wall with a group of students :)

Four Winds, Saintfield Road. Plenty of rental availability and versatile location. I guess it really depends on what part of Belfast you'll be working in..

Also just to say, don't forget that you are ideal tenants - you should negotiate hard on the cost of the rent, especially in the current climate.

As a fellow resident of this area I too would reccomend it!

It's a 10/15 min drive to the city centre and you get alot more for your money than if you tried to rent a house in the city centre/student area.
  • Grrr- this finding a house malarky is harder than I thought!!! Found somewhere on Osborne drive off Lisburn road and they wanted rates on top of the monthly rent- i dont think so:eek:

Do you think negotiating works belfastgirl23? Maybe its easier with a private landlord? Am also trying to find somewhere with good bus lanes etc (as I cant drive!)

Hubby is working in the city centre and I work from home- so as long as there is good transport

Thank you all for your help:T - eeeeek, more searches ensue

psybear- please feel free to pm me with details:)
