Work colleague belittled/bullied

If you read my comment properly you would have seen I was talking about 'idiot managers', so lets not create straw man arguments.
Guess that university education took place a long time ago....
Right. You didnt understand my analogy and therefore it was rubbish. I, apparently, havent understood your comment properly and thus thats my fault also?
Lets not do any straw man arguments then. Youve taken offence on behalf of someone else. You then went on to comment on a number of posts regarding them as stupid because they see things differently. Youre trying to point out bullying where most people dont see it, certainly not to the extent where theyre name calling anyway. Whilst simultaneously ridiculing anyone that disagrees with you.
I cant help but think youre the only bully in this thread.0 -

People can read properly, although you are continually saying they cannot. Maybe you simply cannot write comprehensibly what you want people to read and understand...
You have called retail a 'low level' activity, and you have implied many negative things about me, whilst also simultaneously attempting to say I am the bully.
I would like to quote a great philosopher, Ice Cube: Check yourself before you wreck yourself...0 -

Keeping in mind the apprentice is earning £3.70 a hour she found this very upsetting.
Would you class this as belittling, bullying? This is stupid. .....
.........
Is it ok for the manager to call other people stupid because he has an A level and they don't?
It's absolutely bizarre that you people think that someone of seniority is allowed to behave like that because that's just the way it is. This one instance is likely to be one of many.
You seem to have difficulty in reading or understanding English. Am I bullying you for pointing this out?Originally Posted by shortcrust

She should've responded with "Is that all you get paid, I thought you were on a much higher salary than that."killergibbo wrote: »A apprentice told a manager that she wasn’t able to do some of the admin work being asked of her and asked if the manager could help. :T Maybe, on the day she completes her apprenticeship and gets her certificate or whatever it is they get. Tbh, the manager sounds a little like a patronising !!!!!! but maybe his/her inadequacy is being masked by ill thought out humour, as has been suggested.
Perhaps the apprentice in question should suck it up for now, learn as much as she can as quickly as she can and either demonstrate what a great potential employee she is or, if she does not receive the support she should from this individual, take it higher and demonstrate this manager's lack of ability by showing what she still has to learn, despite her best efforts.
Unfortunately, OP, there is no requirement for the people you work with, let alone for, to be nice to you. You will meet all sorts in the workplace. You have to work with them effectively; you don't have to be their best friend.0 -
My PA wouldn't dream of asking me to do the admin bits of her job because she understands that my job is to make money for the company and her job is to support me in doing that. So she would know without it having to be explained that it was not sensible to pay someone £17.50 an hour to stuff envelopes because the person whose job it was at £3.50 per hour didn't fancy it much.
I suspect that's all the manager was trying to point out - and who knows whether t was intended to be humorous or pointed.
Fact is that the admin was the apprentice's job not the manager's and they apprentice needs to learn that workplace norms are not that she gets to offload the bits of the job she doesn't like in her manager0 -

Equally, I would have said ‘that’s why you are Team Leader’
although sadly both these could be viewed as ‘talking back’.
I once had a CEO come and sit with me, when something had gone wrong, no grumbles or I am paid more then this to have to do this out of him. Always remember the day for the right reasons.0 -
I;m showing my age but I recall the day when, as a right of passage, apprentices on building sites were sent to the builders merchants for a long weight, skyhooks and a tin of tartin paint. I m glad things have got better.Originally Posted by shortcrust

It's rite of passage. And whilst we're at it, its tartan.
See this is why I'm paid £14 more per post than you...0
