Also might be an idea to read up on how to stop the feature updates from installing themselves automatically; https://www.computerworld.com/article/3232632/microsoft-windows/how-to-block-windows-10-april-2018-update-from-installing.html

That is good advice, I let it update 2 systems and they now take forever to boot, one even has black screen for 30 seconds

So now you need an SSD just to get over that!!

Job's done - many thanks (again)

He (I thought he would) ordered the one on the left of your screen saying "why would I buy one with a dent and a scratch" :D
    225.01 + vat = 270.01
    Less 10% = 243.01

    Onwards and upwards ....

Whilst I was there, I sent them a link to some photos of our 'barmouth properties dot com' project ..

Nanny had her iPad on her lap and Grandad had his ageing laptop on the table ...
Nanny - "Oh, yes, very nice"
Grandad - "wouldn't you like to look at them on here, the screen's much bigger"!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:

How is he getting along with it?

He's "finding his way round it"

I tried to move him from Windows Live Mail to the built in W10 Mail app, but good old MS don't actually make an 'import/export' system to do this ... so moved him to Thunderbird.

    So far so good! :)

Many thanks to everyone for their help.

Why would you want to do an import, just set up the Mail app as intended, linked to his Live account and change the synch settings to allow all old emails to be loaded from the servers.

He doesn't have a 'live account'
He has a plusnet email address with pop3 settings.
