A link to one perhaps?

I paid £50 6 months ago for a Toshiba CB30-B-103, works fine.

There is a reason why these things are being sold off cheaply.
Though £50 for your Toshiba is fair enough.0 -

That laptop in question is £209 + VAT.
I guess Dell will deduct 10% from the ex. VAT price. £209 - £20.90 = £188.10
£188.10 + 20%(VAT) = £225.72
Job's done - many thanks (again)
He (I thought he would) ordered the one on the left of your screen saying "why would I buy one with a dent and a scratch"
225.01 + vat = 270.01
Less 10% = 243.01
Onwards and upwards ....
Whilst I was there, I sent them a link to some photos of our 'barmouth properties dot com' project ..
Nanny had her iPad on her lap and Grandad had his ageing laptop on the table ...
Nanny - "Oh, yes, very nice"
Grandad - "wouldn't you like to look at them on here, the screen's much bigger"!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:0 -

Hmmmm...likely a waste of money. He probably wouldn't have noticed any dents or scratches.Greetings, I ordered a scratch and dent from Dell. It arrived with no visible marks, just a refurbished sticker on the bottom. I've had previous problems with their refurbished laptop so I wrote them about this and the response was "scratch and refurbished both are same and there is no any difference between both." I then called customer service and was told that it is new - it had been a cancelled order so they just put on a refurbished sticker.

Would be careful about cloning your HDD to another drive. If the PC is 20 years old chances are the original HDD is damaged beyond cloning. You could run CHKDSK to find out.
If you go for another HDD make sure it's compatible with you disk driver.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0 -
Glad to hear you finally made a decision and I hope he likes it.
Every is right about scratch or dent, I have ordered numerous in the past and never had a scratch or dent.0 -

Yes, but he wouldn't want to be buying 'damaged' goods would he?0 -
That is the point, they are not damaged.
Lot's of kit gets sent back for no reason at all, maybe a power adapter missing, it goes to Ireland, they look at what is missing, replace it and stick it onto Outlet site.
I used to work for a company where we bought all our kit from the Dell outlet, we alwasys bought Scratch n Dent and never had a noticable scratch or dent, must have bought over 300 laptops and 200 desktops.
Anyway what matters is that he is happy, you might want to buy him a bottle of whiskey to get over Win10!0 -

You'll probably scratch & dent it when you eventually get around to fitting that SSD.
Also might be an idea to read up on how to stop the feature updates from installing themselves automatically; https://www.computerworld.com/article/3232632/microsoft-windows/how-to-block-windows-10-april-2018-update-from-installing.html0
