Both my OH and I need to lose weight, but he is not really in the zone so I am having to do this for both of us.
I have told him I am joining Slimming World so he will need to cook on that night as the meeting is 5.30 - 7.00
His answer - "I'll come with you, it's got to be worth a try and perhaps you can cook when we get in or show me how to use the slow cooker so that there is something ready". I nearly fell on the floor in shock.
Next point was explaining SW to him, he likes the sound of red days, but not too sure about green. I explained that it would be best for our budget to do a mixture and wasn't it about time we used all that quorn in the freezer. At this point he went into shock.
Well the last two nights he has had quorn and loved it. I did not tell him what it was and expected the complaints but no it went down and apparently they were the best Shepherd's Pie and Chilli I have made in a long time :rotfl: I also included his least favourite veg in the topping for the SP - mashed swede with the potato and he ate that as well.
Now my question is - do I tell him? Or keep it our secret?
All the best

LOL, don't tell him! I don't. My OH does SW with me too and adores Quorn fillets. Actually he said the Quorn lasagne I made last Saturday was fantastic! I must agree I liked it too! Its a staple in our house - quorn 'chicken' curry, Quorn spag bol, Quorn Lasagne, Quorn chilli, Quorn fillets with veg and mash, Quorn sausage casserole....the list goes on. We love it cause we can have as much pasta/rice with it as we want with them!
Well done and good luck on the weight loss - I'm hoping to get my 1.5stone next week.

Good luck for next week. Can I ask how long it has taken you? We both need to lose about 5 stone:eek:0 -
I'm another one who says don't tell. Mine eats soya mince (TVP) but doesn't know. I use it to bulk out mince in spag bol etc.
Good luck!!

Hi there
:shhh: :shhh: don't tell him :rotfl: ...... its not as if you are doing anything mean or nasty... you are looking after his health and your finances.... although i might be tempted to tell him in a while-when he has eaten it often enough to have had time to comment on it

I do find it's quite ezpensive though, unless you can get it on BOGOFF (which is unusual) it's 1.99 for a small bag.0

The mince is £1.80 odd for 250g. Chicken 'style' pieces slightly nearer £2 but regularly on 2 for £3 etc.0
