Parking Issues..

I agree with this. Getting the council to put down double yellows may be the only way to solve this.
I think your neighbours are being passive aggressive. The way I see this is that if you didn't have your own driveway, then you would need to use a parking bay, yes? But the fact you don't need one of the parking bays now surely means there is one less household needing to use so that's a benefit for everyone else? Unless I am missing something?
Yes, I think you are. The fact that the OP started this whole fiasco with his own inconsiderate parking.0 -

The OP said from when they moved in they parked outside their house in the hammerhead that was designed for turning, not parking. So it sounds like the OP was never using a bay anyway. They claim we took away their parking space (directly in front of our property) which was the hammerhead/turning space of the close, despite the close having six bays available (on first come, first serve).
That sounds to me like a pot, kettle, black, situation. You can't moan at the neighbour for saying this when you were doing the exact same thing. Why were you parking in front of your property, in the turning area, when there were 6 bays available as well?
It does appear that inadvertantly you may have started this off by parking in the hammerhead originally.0 -
Just for a bit more info on this I have attached another image.
So the turning around you do there, you could do before you park rather than before you leave, thereby meaning you could get out forwards.
Would something like this work? Reverse around their car then go forwards.
As long as you CAN get out I don't think they are doing anything wrong. Yes it COULD be easier for you, but it could always be easier.0 -

Going purely by the photo reversing in looks easy and is the best option. The neighbour is doing nothing illegal if that's where he normally parks and that's the end of the story. It's nothing , not nothink.0

You have added pictures since my last reply.
My answer is the same , Reverse IN. Go initially to the right of the red parked car then reverse in from there, and no problem at all getting in or out.
It puts the boot of the car closer to the house for loading and unloading. What is there not to like?0 -

They too parked in the turning circle in front of the house. The Neighbour now parking in front parked in the bays and did so for the whole year we have been at the property. You have added pictures since my last reply.

Appreciate your response. I would understand if they did live at the property they park in front of, but they don't. For the whole year and some months (including the several visits we've had), they have been parking in the bays. The only difference now is that we lowered the kerb.0 -

Unfortunately that's not where they normally park. The day we lowered the Kerb is they day they moved from the bay to there. They would on occasion park in the bay now and again but of late they tend to just leave it in the middle of the close. Worse when we have bins collected and left by the kerb. They would park close to the bin but this even reduces the gap at the back even more.0 -
why make it difficult for us for no apparent reason, is that not being selfish?
The hammerhead should be for turning and not parking. The bays are for parking. Presumably the problem has increased with increased car ownership.
Try putting a note on their car explaining the problem and asking them to use the bays when available. Suggest that if you continue to have problems you may have to ask the council for parking restrictions which you would prefer not to do.0
