Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 3 - A New Beginning

I do feel better for having done something that's for sure Foxgloves - small steps though. I haven't done much this evening since I got home from work. I don't feel that great physically today. I've been having dizzy spells for weeks - but I've been telling myself that I am tired/stressed/dehydrated/not coping with the heat etc. However, they aren't going away and I felt really rubbish at work this afternoon, so I got the next available appointment at the doctors. That's next Thursday - as in 8 days away (need an eyeroll emoji) - so I've booked in the hope that I'll feel better once school is out and I've managed some good rest and I'll be able to cancel it. Once I've finished this post I'm heading off to bed for an earlyish night and hoping that I can get a restful sleep because that seems to help.
I've spent the evening with the kids (which is pretty unusual these days). Sad news but dd is suffering her first ever heartbreak after being dumped. She's only 13 but had been with her boyfriend for over a year. We've had the evening in front of some rubbish films and I got us some cake and ice cream so we could sit and cry and cuddle together. Bless her. She says she feels better now bur I'll be keeping an eye on her.
I got paid quite a chunk of money from the exam board today - more than I was expecting to. But I've looked through my payslip and it is all work that I have done so I'll take that. And for the first time ever, I've put a nice chunk of cash into YNAB and allocated it to all the different pots. Fingers crossed it will work for me - it's nice to see what I have to spend on holidays and days out, and I've put stuff aside for school uniforms. I can see how this could work out really well for me - and I hope that it does. I suppose if I can do it while I'm this low and tired then it should be fine when I have time properly over the summer. It's not quite enough cash to get me out of the debt I've run up in the 3 months since I've been single but it's a help.
Nothing much else to report - work isn't great - my brain went on holiday about Monday I think so it's been quite a struggle for me to survive this week. 6 more lessons to go. And I finally have my timetable for next year. I'm going to be very busy indeed. Not giving up

CCL - The way you handled DD's breakup was brilliant. Sounds like exactly what she needed at that age.
Excellent news on the pay and also on using YNAB. It gets easier the more you use it and it becomes second nature. As you say, you feel better knowing you've put something aside for uniforms, days out, holidays etc. Really well done.0 -
Hello all
Hope all is well. I've woken up with maximum dizziness today. The self and colleague diagnosis is an ear infection, although my doctors appointment is still a week away. However, as I don't feel otherwise unwell, chances are it's just viral. However, I'm going to attempt some further self medication with travel sickness pills that have been suggested as a potential cure for dizzy spells. I shall speak to a pharmacist after school and cross my fingers that it will help.
I would be lying if I said I'd had a productive day so far at work, but I am getting there (slowly but surely) - this time tomorrow I'll be done and it's difficult not to think about that when I'm so desperate for a rest. I will definitely need to come in one or two days over the hols and I will need to do a couple of hours at home to sort stuff out but other than that I will do what I need to, of catching up on sleep and enjoying my time.
I'm almost enjoying the budgeting - and you're right Beanie - I have worked hard for it so I intend to try and enjoy at least some of it. I'm searching through YNAB and trying to decide whether to treat myself to some real quality wool that I like the look of, and thinking probably not. This time last year I'd have bought it and then thought about what to make, but this time I'm thinking I have plenty of wool and what category I would take away from... Weird how the outlook can change in just a few weeks and a reminder of how closely you should always be keeping an eye on your budget. You must be proud of me Speky
DD seems a lot better this morning - I'm pleased she only has a couple of days left at school with him. Time will help things to move on a bit. She is lucky in that she is made of strong stuff, and she has some good friends that she can talk to about it all. Bless her.

Can you not get an earlier doctors appointment? Dizzy spells sounds like something which needs sorting soon.
Congrats on the budgeting and savings pots. I used to like doing that too. It is a whole different ballgame drawing down from our savings as we are doing until all our pensions kick in. Psychologically it is hard to see the balances going down but I keep reminding myself we saved for early retirement and now it is time to spend.

OK - I gave in. After my boss told me that I could book an out of hours appointment with my GP I decided to give it a go. I've just been to see a lovely locum GP at my own surgery, and I didn't even know that service existed. He was actually a whole lot nicer than the doctor I had the appointment with for next week so I'm pleased.
General health is good, blood pressure normal, pulse ox normal, chest clear etc. However, I have glue ear apparently, which will explain the dizziness (or disequilibrium as my dizziness apparently is). Good news is that it isn't serious at all and will clear itself up within a couple of months. Not so good news is that there isn't any treatment for it - I basically have to put up and shut up for the moment. Although he has reassured me, and not nagged me about my weight, or my mental health so it was worth going I suppose.
I haven't gotten anything useful or productive done this evening. I don't feel great so I think I just want to lie down and prepare myself for the final bit of work tomorrow. Plus a night out drinking as well - dizziness on top of dizziness. I predict a long lie in on Saturday (if ds and his sodding Xbox will let me).
Got home to a letter from my solicitor asking me to go and sign a statement for the next stage of the divorce - I'll try and do that next week after I've seen the mortgage lady at the bank so I can get a clearer picture on that front. Hopefully we can keep things moving. Not giving up

Good news that the ear will clear by itself although hopefully it won't take as long as he says it will.
Re DS and his xbox - tell him it's either wear earphones or don't use it!
Hope things go well with the bank XI Believe.....

Glad you went to the doctors and saw someone nice.
I swear we have the same lives, DD was having problems with one of her ears recently and I thought she had an ear infection, took her to GP - saw a very new, gorgeous, just out of med school GP - and he diagnosed ETD - https://patient.info/health/earache-ear-pain/eustachian-tube-dysfunction - looks like this is the same as glue ear!!!!
She kept going dizzy, was slightly deaf and her ear and jaw ached. Apparently it is linked to her hay fever - she was prescribed an anti-inflammatory nose spray and a few days of that and she was much better.
I hope your ear issue gets better soon - maybe more rest would help which by the end of today should be a bit easier.0
