Oh hell, Cat. This saga just goes on & on. I feel for you, as I know how much you want it all sorted, so you can properly move on & start getting your new budget established. I think it sounds like it will all come to a head soon, as the fuel theft, etc, is likely to prompt a police intervention. I hope so, as you really don't need to be having your address used to facilitate car hire/credit facilities, etc, which can't then be paid for. What a mess. Thinking of you.

You my dear are a legend for keeping going through all of this. eta: you will come out the other side of this! pom poms are constantly going for you x

I know you don't want to run up any more solicitor fees but i'd think it best to keep them abreast of the situation as it has developed (ie hes now of no fixed abode) & your serious concerns about him still being on the mortgage and using your address as the security of the kids is the most important thing and while his name is still technically associated to the ownership of the house that is at risk to try and get it pushed through or them to at least come up with some robust immediately actionable options to provide that security as otherwise it will just continue to drag on and on.

On a similar note was there a kindly police officer you have liaised with in the various escapades (possibly when the ex was coming round to the house) whos shell you could have a quiet word in for advice and support about it all?

I guess you can't do a financial disassociation yet as the mortgage is still linking you but not sure if there is a flag that you can put up on your address to stop him doing any further credit agreements against the address? Sort of like a protective registration flag?
    - Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted
    - Student Loan gone
Swagbucks, Mingle, GiffGaff, Prolific, Qmee & Quidco; thank you MSE every little bit helps
  • Hi CCL
Wowzers! He really has a cheek! Is there anyway you can do a credit check to see what else he may have taken out at the address? He really is stooping to new lows. Hoping the police can deal with him.
Hope you’re keeping a notebook with all the dates and all the drama listed - your solicitor should see it all.
Keep going. We’re all rooting for you!
    On a mission!

  • Have you made sure that his name is not on the electoral register at your house?

Does his solicitor have his mobile number on which to contact him re court dates?

So sorry you're going through this, especially at such a busy time of the year for you.

    Morning CCL.

My immediate concern, as others have already said, is what else could be pilling up against your address/name. I'm not up to speed on the legal side of things but I fear that this same thing could be happening elsewhere going forward?

Anyway, I know you've a strong head on your shoulders and you'll keep it together for your sake, as well as the kids (and cats, if you can find them!).

    Take care.

    Morning

Just sent my solicitor an email informing him of the current situation. There's been no further news from anyone - no police, no ex, no council, no hospitals so I'm just waiting for something to happen next. Hopefully my solicitor will be able to give me some good advice. I'm trying not to think about the fact that my new debt is now running into the thousands after I worked so hard to clear it a few years ago.
Still not sleeping that well either - the awful weather doesn't help. Cats are restless and want to be out until they see the rain. This happens at regular intervals, including during the night. Ah well. I'm hopeful that the rain will stop soon for that if nothing else.
Anyway, I don't have much else to say - I just wanted to check in and thank you all for your kind words and support. It really means the world to me.

When you finally are rid of the twit, we are having a party!!
If he gets himself arrested, at least the solicitor will know where he is. Don't suppose you could ask for a two-fer at court?
Sorry. Chin up! Keep going. Four weeks left of term!

Some stuff you can control, this is not really one of them.

Have you spoken to yr mortgage company about your divorce and that he is no longer resident and you will need his name taken off eventually? Just remember to do this when you are finally free of all this......

If you split up with someone you've had joint finances with, once your finances are no longer linked, write to the credit reference agencies and ask for a notice of disassociation. You can also call up or find the forms online.

This will stop their credit history affecting yours in the future. However, the agencies say they can't do this if you still have a joint account open with the ex. The account will need to be closed or transferred to an individual account before you can do it. For example, a joint loan would have to be paid off before a notice be given.
