I imagine she didn't become a multimillionairess by spending twice as much as necessary for no reason.

I always look out for yellow stickered items as well. A large batch of home-made fruit juice from yellow sticker items is always especially satisfying.

Yet she was willing this afternoon to accept only £7k off our original offer that we made a few weeks ago (to cover work identified in the building survey). But I said that we were in the far stronger negotiating position, so we should only drop to £8k off (works cost about £9.5k, but we lose £1.5 k anyway if we walk, due to the solicitor's fees and the building survey). They accepted our slightly harder line today, so we are looking forward to getting our new home soon, and that extra £1k covers a few steaks (especially at half price).

To be honest I think that we could have held out for the whole £9k (that I asked for), but it was getting a bit boring.

My partner and I are a couple of self made millionaires ourselves however sadly not multis. That might come in time with our recent SE rentals. But the mentality that both you and your wife have is one we follow and a known route to wealth. Don!!!8217;t spend more than you need especially not on impressing people you do not know nor renting a property when you could buy your own.

I am now worth several million quid, and my little empire building started around the same time as HPC.com, just a little earlier. I wonder what they have on their grave stones, THE HOUSING MARKET WILL STILL SHORTLY FALL.
  • They will probably rent their plot.

I do think we will see a sharp correction soon. All I see in London is hideous flats being built everywhere for as cheap as possible and cram them in, and at stupid asking prices.

This tells me a correction on firmly on the horizon, for flats at least.

As for quality homes, I dont think they will be affected nearly as much.

This is what HPC, Moneyweek, Jonathan Davies and other assorted geniuses (geniusi??) over the past 15+ years.

Called it right in one year of the past 15, and still crow about it.

A stopped clock, and all that..............

I think a period of sideways drift is likelier. Nothing that would normally cause a recession - high interest rates, a recession, Labour government - is on the horizon.

That is what always happens, avoid flats if at all possible.

I know someone who took a loss on a flat because the service charge had increased so much.

Probably pointless to drop that into this thread as there are obviously a couple of people (at least) posting who are on CTO`s, the guy who can`t spell his own user name and who thinks knowing what user names a stranger on the internet uses somehow benefits him is particularly troubling and sad, if there are any genuine multimillionaires on this thread they should wake up and stop encouraging this tragic behaviour.
  • Yah, Crashy is back in town. How!!!8217;s that Crash Breakeven Point coming along?
