    Morning folks!

DNMS - I hope you feel better soon. It sounds a bit like the virus I had last week. I'm feeling much better now though.

CCL - welcome back. Sorry it's under difficult circumstances though.

A very busy day yesterday. I was lured to mother-in-law's under the guise of "pruning". Actually I had to dig out 2 confiers and 2 small tree sized shrubs
OH had to scrub down the entire desk and paint the conservatory!
On the plus side, we got a free lunch and saved water by showering there. I was also saintly, and despite being knackered, did not order in, but rustled up some pie filling and veg out of the freezer as a kind of small stew. :A

Today it's MY garden on the line, and I don't intend to remove any trees!
Today we are having dinner out with my mil, fil, bil and sil. We always split the bill 3 ways, but my bil is very very greedy and drinks a lot (he'll probably slurp down 6 pints and wine over the course of the meal). It sounds silly but we often end up eating and drinking more to try and make sure we get our money's worth!! Unfortunately splitting the bill evenly is not an option as mil gets very worked up about it and thinks it's embarrassing. Her argument is that she doesn't drink and she doesn't mind paying over the odds, so no one else should

    Today's mission:
    • B/L from stores.
    • D out - some money saved as we have £60 in the selling fund that has been accumulating as we've sold off the stuff that fil has decluttered.
    • Out into the garden with a list of jobs to do!
    • Reconciled budget sheet - need to get OH in on it too and things are tight this month due to last minute holiday to Berlin :o
    • Researched how to get the train from Berlin airport to the hotel. Approx saving of 35 euro each way!
    • Epilate (saves a fortune on razors)
    • Research a good gluten free bread recipe - can anyone recommend??
    • Poss dye hair. I have a load of semi-permanent red hanging round that needs using up. Bit old now though so I hope it's ok!
I'll add more if I think of anything.

    Have a good one all

  • Morning! Today I am going to phone the bank and start making more standing orders to my "piggy bank" accounts to help with my budgeting. I have been meaning to do it for at least 2 weeks and have not done it yet. I also need to get some things on ebay but I keep putting it off. Maybe putting it here in black and white will make me do it!!!

Hmmm, maybe not quite the same... I felt like queasy for a few days and off tummy, dry scratchy throat, but just generally exhausted. I couldn't even walk round town! Had to just go home!

    Good morning all :coffee:
DNMS - sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. It sounds very similar to the bug going round at my school at the moment... Hope you're better soon.
I had quite a productive day in the end yesterday, and managed to stop myself from a couple of mindless spends (although I did have to hand over £400 for my new garden fence ), and I hope to do the same today - stop spending, not hand over £400 for a fence :rotfl:. I had a small shopping list and I've managed to cross everything off it by having a good rake through cupboards and trying to think of alternatives.Yesterday I spent a bit of time decluttering and sorting our outhouse so that I could get into our chest freezer without having to do acrobatics to get there, and I put some leftover pasta in there as a couple of ready meals.
I feel quite tired this morning so may have to have a little nap before I do much else, but I have a couple of annoying jobs on my list. I also need to sort out what to do with 10 pints of milk that desperately need using from the fridge (trial and error as to how much stuff I need to buy) and some food in there that's approaching use by. This is a silly question I know, but is there anything that I can't put into the freezer now that I can get to it?
Have a good day everyone :D
  • cat generally I find most things freeze. I google if I'm not sure - cucumbers, lettuce do not freeze!

    Morning all :)
Didn't get round to posting yesterday, but I was reading... welcome back CCL, but sorry to hear things are difficult at the moment :(
Hope all the poorlies feel better today :)
Spendy day today, as the car has gone for its MOT and service. Not duly worried about the MOT, as it is stll under dealer's warranty, but the service and the test itself will still need to be paid for. Still, it will be good to get this one out of the way, as our old camper van also needs a service and MOT this month, and will undoubtedly need work to get it through this year :(
Waiting in for a delivery, which is annoying, but might make me get some jobs done around the house! I have already taken lots of stuff from the dining room (aka dumping ground :o) and put it away, so that looks a bit clearer.

    Other things;
    Check banks and update spreadsheet
Look for surveys - already done one for Yougov
Some ironing needs doing at some point :(
Could tackle tax return but not sure I am in the right headspace for that  There is loads of time but I like to get it done and out of the way asap! I don't think I will have any tax to pay as my business made very little in the last tax year :(
Could do some gardening but stalling a bit as it is still too cold for lots of things to go out. Will check seedlings in any case!
Might do some baking - but trying not to eat too much naughty food atm!
Think where to put two small pictures I bought for 2 quid at the flea market last week - I love pictures, not old masters, but nice amateur paintings or nice old prints, I have loads, and my aim is to cover the walls with them to avoid decorating :rotfl:. I like ones of flowers, animals and landscapes, not so keen on portraits, and I generally spend only a pound or two on them from junk shops etc. My most expensive was £60  but I love this one (and it was a birthday present), and the usual spend is more like 60p :rotfl: These 2 are a modern amateur watercolour of a country scene, and an older seascape, both in nice frames that they came in. Love them!

Anyway, better stop waffling and get on and do something!

Though you can make them into soup and freeze that :)
Milk freezes well CCL, just in the plastic bottles it comes in :)

You can shred lettuce and freeze it and add it to soup.

    Hi all

Yesterday was a NSD as was working, but the day before was a budget blowing day :_( had to get new glasses. I have a complex prescription so wasn't prepared to try the cheaper online options so that was £214 spent!!! On the bright side I am getting £104 of that paid from my simply health cover, plus they replaced a contact lens for me for free as had lost one of my monthly ones.

    Todays plan:

Met up with a friend for coffee this morning - her turn to pay (does this count as a NSD?)
    Listed 3 items on eBay
    Answered a survey on swagbucks
Sort kitchen cupboards ready to take items to the tip before our move in 3 weeks

    Still to do

Maybe some baking as am trying to use everything still in the cupboards
    More surveys
    Sell old mobile phones
    Update spreadsheet
List items in cupboards and freezer so we can use them all up
Sort out any clutter to save us paying for storage we don't need (moving to temporary accomodation whilst waiting for our new build house to be completed eeeeeeek)

Hope the weather is lovely for the bank holiday weekend and you all get to enjoy it :-)
