Just popping in to to say hi 👋🏻 @julicorn  your numbers are looking great!
Thanks for the work on the MFW spreadsheet-I write everything on paper so to have this as reference (and encouragement) is really helpful 🙂

    Awesome. Really awesome  :)
    Thank you so much! <3
Probably won't be able to out anything towards the mortgage this month, just had a tooth split in my mouth (oh fun times) and am getting an implant, but luckily that should only 'set us back' a month or so.

    Thank you both!

On the mortgage front, I've just noticed that by the end of this month, we will have reached a really big milestone - £100k paid off (if we take into account the savings pot as well at least, because we can't actually overpay the mortgage again until September).
🎉🎊👯💸 welldone to the Julicorns! £100k is a big achievement
Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)
Mortgage start date first week of July 2019,
Mortgage term 23yrs(end of June 2042🙇🏽♀️),
Target is to pay it off in 10years(by 2030🥳).

Because it's the new year, we were finally allowed to overpay our mortgage again properly... And we had enough saved up to OP 10% of the outstanding balance in one go, yay! That was exactly £12,821.35, leaving our current balance at just under £115,500 :) That means no further overpayments again until September, which is when our current fix runs out. Back to just saving in premium bonds, which (after 2 months with no wins) paid out £100 this month! It's been a good start to the year, in other words. :D

I'd also like to report back that Simon has recovered beautifully, he clearly felt all of your positive energy <3 We made some amazing sourdough pizzas on Friday, which were SO GOOD, genuinely some of the tastiest pizzas we have ever eaten. It's so good that it should easily replace our usual Friday night take-out pizza, so that's another moneysaving win. Here's a photo:

We baked bread this morning too which was also lovely, albeit a bit dense because heavily improvised, haha! We went out and bought like 8 different types of flour, so will be able to properly follow recipes over the next few weeks, and I'll share the results here as well if anyone's interested <3

Either way, have a fabulous weekend everyone :)
Can I join you for tea one of these days when you bake that pizza again? 😋
Oh that would be fabulous! We have been baking more than Mr Julicorn and I can eat, haha! All using our sourdough, and we even bake sweet bakes using the discard, like brownies and banana bread. <3 we've been making some really tasty bagels too.
Today I just baked 2 loafs of bread:
It's definitely a bit of an additiction, haha!

We have the week off work too, it's Mr Julicorn's birthday tomorrow. Just relaxing at home watching lots of Netflix shows, and I've restarted the Duolingo Japanese course as well which is good fun. I hope you're having a nice week too :)
At this rate when I do come for tea I will not leave!
    That bread yam yam!

Hi Julicorn, hope all is well.  I have to say my son and I were inspired by your sourdough so did a project and created “Barry” (Big bad Barry bubbles is his official name, a bit like a kennel club name for a pedigree dog 🤣).  We have enjoyed sourdough pizza bases with the discard and I’ve been practicing my sourdough loaves, which are edible if not always beautiful.  I’ve also started making standard bread and my son declared that my seeded loaf was as good as the stuff you buy; high praise indeed from a 7 year old.  Today I’m going to attempt making teacakes!

    Hi Hettyhound,
Apologies I completely missed your update! I think my notifications always get so clogged up with the MFW 2021 posts that I didn't even think to check in here. That is absolutely fantastic news though! And high praise indeed from your son. How did the teacakes turn out, and may I ask how Barry is doing now? Mr julicorn and I are just about to start a potato & rosemary sourdough bread, that's a new one for us too and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

A very late thank you! We've just been paid and put more money into the mortgage savings pot (can't make actual overpayments until September), and our adjusted mortgage balance is now under £100k, in fact around £98,400. Our real mortgage balance is just under £114k, but still!
