Because it's the new year, we were finally allowed to overpay our mortgage again properly... And we had enough saved up to OP 10% of the outstanding balance in one go, yay! That was exactly £12,821.35, leaving our current balance at just under £115,500 :) That means no further overpayments again until September, which is when our current fix runs out. Back to just saving in premium bonds, which (after 2 months with no wins) paid out £100 this month! It's been a good start to the year, in other words. :D

I'd also like to report back that Simon has recovered beautifully, he clearly felt all of your positive energy <3 We made some amazing sourdough pizzas on Friday, which were SO GOOD, genuinely some of the tastiest pizzas we have ever eaten. It's so good that it should easily replace our usual Friday night take-out pizza, so that's another moneysaving win. Here's a photo:

We baked bread this morning too which was also lovely, albeit a bit dense because heavily improvised, haha! We went out and bought like 8 different types of flour, so will be able to properly follow recipes over the next few weeks, and I'll share the results here as well if anyone's interested <3

Either way, have a fabulous weekend everyone :)
Can I join you for tea one of these days when you bake that pizza again? 😋

Oh that would be fabulous! We have been baking more than Mr Julicorn and I can eat, haha! All using our sourdough, and we even bake sweet bakes using the discard, like brownies and banana bread. <3 we've been making some really tasty bagels too.
Today I just baked 2 loafs of bread:
It's definitely a bit of an additiction, haha!

We have the week off work too, it's Mr Julicorn's birthday tomorrow. Just relaxing at home watching lots of Netflix shows, and I've restarted the Duolingo Japanese course as well which is good fun. I hope you're having a nice week too :)

    Thank you both!

On the mortgage front, I've just noticed that by the end of this month, we will have reached a really big milestone - £100k paid off (if we take into account the savings pot as well at least, because we can't actually overpay the mortgage again until September).
