LavanderBee you poor thing, especially in your condition, Use it as a good excuse to get your rest. My biggest regret is that I didn't relax more before my bouncing bubbas rocked up and stole all my free time :D

I'm still working :o going to have to do the rest from home as I can't drive or put my foot down (metaphorically or physically). Some people have said to me about having time to myself before LO arrives as it's our first, but I was a bit scared I would miss work too much.

You can imagine the looks I got in A&E; heavily pregnant, swollen purple foot, hopping on crutches.
  • Evening everyone,

    NSD #11 for me today.

Have finished the week 3 (out of 6) reading I need to do for my OU assignment.

Bed soon but think I'll go and sneak in a couple of chapters of the latest book I'm reading first.

DawnW hope you're on the road to recovery.

    Hi all :j

Motivation: what is your personal motivation for joining in with the turtles? My motivation is to cut down on the unnecessary spending and pay for some renovations to this property. In order to do this I think we need to be saving money by doing any jobs we can realistically (!) do ourselves. DH is helping by going into bit of garden that is uncultivated  and spraying the nettles for me. We have discovered a new shared interest in gardening - I grow stuff, he kills weeds...:D He's so impressed with the vacuum bags he's ordered more now...

Money: know your income and outgoings. All DD bills should have gone out by now and I am going to add up our income, that won't take very long.. so far have done now two grocery shops. Grocery bill so far £57.07. Spendy day as grocery shopping, plus CS shopping, plus then a visit to Fultons & HB this afternoon which yielded a few bargains..

Me time: look after yourself. Get enough sleep; eat well; move; do things you enjoy. Sleep OK, up a bit early as had to get ready for stint in CS. Ate fairly well & used up some items. Into garden for a brief time but flowers coming on apace. Need to water again tomorrow.

Move: being active benefits your body and your mind. You know that. Now do it. 4 hours in CS certainly makes you active, although it's repetitive work.

Activation: what spurs you on to keep on the path? Have not done much decluttering but have identified some items to sell to a fellow collector. Just need to find out how to price, which will be tricky as rare items & not available so need to research somehow. Got reply from friend re collectables; need to send her some photos & she has a source that she can consult. Sadly also told me she is very unwell with heart trouble. Photographed stuff to send to friend & actually sent them to her, so process started although I don't expect to hear for a little while. Took more photos, will post to try & get more sales. Lady received DVDs & says that she showed one film at the weekend, which she says will increase my DVD sales. All DVD sales sent off now - by chance I found a few US format ones from the first time we made them....PayPal balance looking very healthy & intend now to try to sell some other stuff over the BH weekend. Need to get on with this tomorrow. Did take a character type small suitcase to CS with me today after cleaning it up, they put an ambitious £10 on it. Not sure that's achievable but good luck to them.

Arm yourself : you have chosen to follow a path that many mock and despise - that of ridding yourself of debt and financial constrictions in order to be free; free to choose what to do with your money and time, not enslaved to repaying or to other people. Glad we are not bothered about 'keeping up with the Joneses' - have done that a long time ago but really do not care any more. It's how some people validate themselves & that's fine, but not for me. We are now free from paid work commitments but spent many years getting there, wish it had been sooner. Desperate need of decluttering & getting rid of old lifestyle. Am going to do this so will post progress on here to keep me accountable. DH removed all open fire items (wood, lighter logs, coal etc) plus portable gas fire so loads more room now. Looking to list more items this week, so need to prepare. DD has actually sold a fair few of her clothes, not for massive amounts as they weren't expensive in the first place, but at least she's getting something & the stuff is leaving the house. She needs the cash as she's booked about 3 mini breaks in the near future.

You. Are you happy in yourself? Know what brings you joy, what cheers your heart, what makes you pause and wonder. Don't just stop and smell the coffee in the morning; practise stopping and looking around throughout the day. Appreciate what you have. Be grateful. Gratitudes Quiet time in CS at first & a laugh with colleagues; DD making lunch (!); DH lending a hand; me not shouting when he spilt the tea on an easy chair - and breathe ; some cash in my account today..

    NSDs still 11/19

    Check ins: 20/31

Finally done charity donation through euro account. Ten euro to the doggies...of West Cork

Only paid for eyetest, which is medical as far as I am concerned.

    Good progress made with stripping.

Feeling a little resentful as DH is off on after work drinks , and meals out, as well as last weekend's party. But still, it's a love/hate affair between me and my stripper.

Hugs to all poorlies! What on earth have you been up to???
    Especially you, Duncan!

    Right, off to herd kids.

    Have a lovely day

Lavenderbee - oh no. Do take it easy.

x-raphael - I agree with your friend on facebook about vets I am afraid, it is no longer about animals and all about money. I won't have another pet when current dog is gone. An example of their overcharging - our dog had a skin issue and they gave us a skin wash in a tiny bottle and charged £15, by chance I spotted the exact same stuff in Boots, 4 times the size for £5. Obviously we didn't just pay £15, we paid 2 x £36 consultation fees, a charge for a nurse showing us how to clean the area (seriously), disposable gloves, and some 'antibiotics'.

DawnW - hope you're on the mend now! :)
Pup had an unexpected trip to the vet on friday..<snip>
. Booked him into the vets in the afternoon and £57.77 later came away with some antibotics, just in case of infections.

Glad to hear Pup's ok - and £60 is worth it for peace of mind, sometimes :)

Also donated some random foreign coins (ie: not euros or dollars) to school collection - they raise money from them. Also started a new CS bag.

Plan the month: every single day: what you are doing, what you are eating, - sort of - have written in work days, day when collecting DD from uni, DS3's, my mum's, my sister's, my aunt's and bestie's husband's bdays... Am not going to plan food, though).

Quiet day. Took mum to her eye appointment (far side of tthe borough). No infection or degeneration (apart from the left eye being useless). She can still see hand movement with it. Fascinating visit as the nurse was teaching a student nurse so explained all the questions, how to fill in the forms and all the codes for recording vision.

Right eye very good (much better than mine). Left eye, they tried the board at 3 meters, thn 2, then 1. If you can see just one letter on the board at one meter, that is still a recordable measure of sight. After that they try counting fingers then movement of the hand - mum could see the movement but got the fingers wrong. For people with even less vision, they turn the lights off, pull the blinds down and then use a pen light to test for any reaction from the eye.

They also recorded the batch numbers or the eye drops administered. Quite amusing as the nurse had to ask the student to read the batch numbers out to her.

Smooth journey both ways as we were travelling after the morning rush and a quick pick up coming home as our driver had just dropped someone off at the main hospital, about ten minutes away. Took mum's milk first thing - forgot it yesterday but DS3 found it and put one in the fridge and two in the freezer.

Home about 1.30pm. Read and dozed for most of the afternoon - did quite abit of tidying last night. DS2 has brought me another meal. No money spent. Booked us another holiday last night. Had an e-mail last week, was interested, told mum but it clashed with the community matron's next visit, then mum asked if I had booked it - only 8 places left. Rubbish seats on the coach but should be good. 5 Days at the end of June so probably last holiday until autumn (apart from the wedding for me).

Today I am grateful for the weather, a lovely sunny day with a cooling breeze making it bearable, for a satisfactory appointment, for free food, for the anticipation of a holiday (I had offered to pay for myself but mum will pay but give my brother the same amount as the cost of the holiday), for a relaxing afternoon, for making headway on the mess (and working out some of the reasons behind it), for good books.

    Happy World Turtle Day
