Finally posting as though been reading on a daily basis never seem to have much to report.
I've achieved 18NSDs so far and all going well tomorrow will have 19.
All budgets are at, or below, target as this challenge is making me consider every purchase I make, and even if it is needed I'm using all available means to get it at the best price possible.

Half way through a busy half term holiday.

Off to sign up for June.
Groceries: Personal Spend: 0 NST NSD Goals for 2025:Self: Health: Wealth :
  • Today has been an NSD. Except I gave my friend a £5 loan for petrol. Tomorrow wont be. Tomorrow is goodbye contact present day.

    Hi all :j

Motivation: what is your personal motivation for joining in with the turtles? My motivation is to cut down on the unnecessary spending and pay for some renovations to this property. In order to do this I think we need to be saving money by doing any jobs we can realistically (!) do ourselves. Heavy rain today so nothing done outside, hope for better tomorrow.

Money: know your income and outgoings. All DD bills should have gone out by now and I am going to add up our income, that won't take very long.. so far have done now two grocery shops. Grocery bill so far £57.07. No spending today.

Me time: look after yourself. Get enough sleep; eat well; move; do things you enjoy. Good sleep; eating not so good. Enjoyed visit from friend this afternoon, planning on a girly few days away in August with friend & DD.

Move: being active benefits your body and your mind. You know that. Now do it. Only moving doing house work today.

Activation: what spurs you on to keep on the path? Have not done much decluttering but have identified some items to sell to a fellow collector. Just need to find out how to price, which will be tricky as rare items & not available so need to research somehow. Got reply from friend re collectables; need to send her some photos & she has a source that she can consult. Sadly also told me she is very unwell with heart trouble. Photographed stuff to send to friend & actually sent them to her, so process started although I don't expect to hear for a little while. Took more photos, will post to try & get more sales. Lady received DVDs & says that she showed one film at the weekend, which she says will increase my DVD sales. All DVD sales sent off now - by chance I found a few US format ones from the first time we made them....PayPal balance looking very healthy & intend now to try to sell some other stuff over the BH weekend. Sold a couple more DVDs so they were sent off today. DD sold a load of clothes all packed up & gone.

Arm yourself : you have chosen to follow a path that many mock and despise - that of ridding yourself of debt and financial constrictions in order to be free; free to choose what to do with your money and time, not enslaved to repaying or to other people. Glad we are not bothered about 'keeping up with the Joneses' - have done that a long time ago but really do not care any more. It's how some people validate themselves & that's fine, but not for me. We are now free from paid work commitments but spent many years getting there, wish it had been sooner. Desperate need of decluttering & getting rid of old lifestyle. Am going to do this so will post progress on here to keep me accountable. Didn't get any vac packing done as packing up parcels to leave instead. Did get more voucher payments through the post.

You. Are you happy in yourself? Know what brings you joy, what cheers your heart, what makes you pause and wonder. Don't just stop and smell the coffee in the morning; practise stopping and looking around throughout the day. Appreciate what you have. Be grateful. Gratitudes [/B Visit from friend after a 3 week break; peaceful evening & looking forward to new challenge for June.

Here we are, at the end of the month. Thank you for coming along with me.

Well done to all turtles! We don't beat ourselves up about what we didn't quite achieve. We celebrate what we did get right / improve on / learn.

May the force be with you during June's Odyssey.

    See you on the boat...

A final check in of 17/19 NSDs. Sadly I was thwarted a couple of times by online deliveries trying to provide inappropriate substitutes, so ended up in a shop anyway a day or two later. Kinda defeats the point of using online shopping to help reduce spending days as well as impulse purchases.

Final budgets are a disaster too:
    Groceries: £288.94 / £200
    Personal: £55.27 / £23.45
    Diesel: £93.77 / £30

Groceries to be discussed with DH tonight, all his 'extra things' that end up in the basket have got to stop - we are approaching days when we can't afford this. Personal, I tried to have a very small budget, it went wrong with extra medical related costs, and taking on more than my costs in a meal. I have spent £2.95 on craft supplies too to finish two things off for the baby. I was going to beat myself up over this and allow zero personal spends next month; then realised than being unrealistically tight caused the problem, so I will still have a personal budget in June. Fuel already explained, filled car up when I could've got away with putting £5-10 in to save further trips to fill up in June. Now I can't drive anyway :o

Huge thanks to apple for running this month's challenge. Onto June!

    Hi all :j

Many thanks to apple for running this months thread :T

Motivation: what is your personal motivation for joining in with the turtles? My motivation is to cut down on the unnecessary spending and pay for some renovations to this property. In order to do this I think we need to be saving money by doing any jobs we can realistically (!) do ourselves. No rain but muggy & humid ugh.. Made space in big shed so can now get to back of it to sort plastic boxes. Also filled 2 more vacuum bags. Feel ridiculously pleased with self for mending gate - bashing nails in with a hammer...

Money: know your income and outgoings. All DD bills should have gone out by now and I am going to add up our income, that won't take very long.. so far have done now two grocery shops. Grocery bill so far £57.07.Spent today as have to mail package. Also bought shoes....ugh

Me time: look after yourself. Get enough sleep; eat well; move; do things you enjoy. Rubbish sleep, awake till after 3.30am; eating not too bad. Did a bit more FH last night, but stayed up late in consequence, then couldn't sleep...

Move: being active benefits your body and your mind. You know that. Now do it. Went out into garden late on when it had cooled sufficiently, lovely perfume of flowers, did have to water all plants..

Activation: what spurs you on to keep on the path? Have not done much decluttering but have identified some items to sell to a fellow collector. Just need to find out how to price, which will be tricky as rare items & not available so need to research somehow. All DVD sales sent off now - by chance I found a few US format ones from the first time we made them....PayPal balance looking very healthy & intend now to try to sell some other stuff over the BH weekend. Only decluttering done is packing up some winter clothes. Need to sell...this is the aim.
