I was on plenty of fish for ten years on and off.

I have been ghosted several times, been asked in appropriate things several times, I though I found a couple of nice guys. I met with one but we just didn’t get on face to face. Another I thought I liked just strung me along and then turned it on me when I kept saying he was making excuses not to meet.

I was just going to give up when my boyfriend messaged me one morning.

We bonded on sign language and our favourite pub of all things.

We talked for 15 hours that day even when he was at work. I never felt a connection to someone like that before. We arranged to meet up a few days later but the next day I had a bad day at work and I said I fancy that drink now. He got ready so quick and met me. I felt so nervous right up to him meeting me. We just connected instantly.

I met my partner on Zoosk, after a string of dates with various people who although nice, were not for me, and I wasn't for them either.

It was quite daunting after coming out of a 31 year marriage, I had not had a date since 1986!

I put about half a dozen recent head and shoulders photos on there, did use a little light filtering but was honest and open about that, and no one ever commented that I looked nothing like my pics. I did get people asking about what size I was (I am an 18) but as I had described myself as a curvy build, that should have been enough, so they were ignored.

I did not put much info about me on there, as I found it encouraged people to ask questions, and strike up a conversation, rather than have everything on there and nothing to discover.

I did get plenty of inappropriate messages and a few real creeps, but on the whole I found the site easy to use to weed out the people only after one thing, and was able to have some fun conversations with my dates, before going over to WhatsApp chats, then talking on the phone and finally meeting them.

I always met people in a public place local to me, where I could easily leave and go home, and also let my daughter know I was going on a date, we had an arrangement where if I wanted a 'get out' I could message her and she would then call me with a made up emergency so that I would have an excuse to leave. Never had to use it, even with the one guy who couldn't keep his hands to himself, I dealt with him very swiftly.

When I met my partner, after only 3 months of dating site membership, we just got on so well, and had so much in common, and hit it off straight away, it really was instantly relaxed, fun, and all the rest IYKWIM

I moved in with him on his boat a year ago and we are getting married next June. Really happy and I am so glad that we met, he makes me laugh every day, gets on with my kids, I get on with his, and we have a great life together.

It does work, we would never have met without online dating as we lived a couple of hours drive away from each other! We jokingly answer questions about where we met with 'I bought him/her online' usually with reference to the returns policy :rotfl:

I liked Zoosk, the site made it easy to chat and connect with similar people, and I can recommend it. As with any site, there are the usual suspects looking for casual sex but some really nice genuine people too.
