We don't yet know whether mr SP's experience will end a happy or sad one, a 5 year covenant means nothing unless it states clearly that mr SP will rights over the property until then. did mr SP seek any form of legal counsel regarding the covenant or just think that it looked like a kosher piece of paper and accepted it? we just don't know these details.
I spent alot of time applying on websites and talking to a lot of really pushy greedy arogant house buyers, many just made ridiculous offers and were very insulting, others were just plain rude, one Australian said it was "me and a couple of mates buying up houses cheap" he was horrid.
In the end I went with a small family business, who seemed to care, they organised a survey straight away and the whole thing took one month. I feel quite happy with my position and all the gloomy news about property is making me feel even more content, it wasn't an easy decision to make, you all know how much grief it caused me, in the end it was as if nothing had happened, I am still in my house without the worry of house prices crashing, I agree with Pania, do your homework and look these people in the eye, I cant believe the amount of timewasters I spoke to when I was making my enquiries. I am confident I will continue to post on here for the next 5 years from my home !!0 -

A "mate" who borrows money but becomes abusive when you ask for it back because you are in trouble is NOT a mate. No loss to you. You are better off without them in your life!LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

I let this sort of thing nag me, I just don't like the feeling that somebody out there doesn't like me.0 -

One of the joys of renting as opposed to owning your own home
You need to ask the new owners. Some landlords don't mind, others do. Our landlady said our flat could be decorated but it could only be painted white or grey because the carpet was grey. 1st April 2008 challenge:mad: xmas overspend = [strike]£254.05[/strike] £0:j......cc1 = [strike]£240.78[/strike] £0:j .......cc2 = [strike]£667.47[/strike] £0 :j ...amount owed to ISA = [strike]£1599.90[/strike] £0:jTOTAL TO GO = [strike]£2762.20[/strike] £0 !!! DONE IT DONE IT DONE IT!!!:dance:0 -
I just spoke to them, they said they would pay for the paint, whatever colour we want !!!0

Hi mr S_P - I have no wish, or intention, of slating you.
The fact that your decision would not have been my decision, in your circumstances, is niether here nor there and I sincerely hope that you have made the right decision and that it works out for you and your family.
Everything is working out well with the landlord, they have not interfered in any way, in fact it was a real non event, we just woke up the next day as tenants instead of people with a huge unmanageable mortgage, really relieved now and smug everytime I read about repersessions and mortgage rates going up.0
