Could anyone shed some light on a situation with UKPC ticket. As the title says the driver parked in a disabled bay (furthest away when there was still plenty left) BUT they only parked there because no parent and child spaces were left. The childs car seat was in the front of the van. They were in Tesco for no more than 5min and came out to a ticket on the windscreen because they parked in a disabled bay.

They have been told just to ignore it and any letters sent out. but just wanted someone to confirm this will be more than likely to blow over without them paying the £100 penalty charge of the £60 If paid within 14 days.

    Facts of the matter:
    1. Parked in a disabled pay at Tesco for 5min because no parent spaces were left.
    2. child seat was in the front seat
    3. I've heard UKPC are !!!!! :rotfl:

    Thanks

Ticket for parking in disabled bay because no available parent and child spaces left
Not again. A parent with a belief of their entitlement to a 'special bay'. AGAIN.

So the driver PARKED IN A DISABLED BAY. How does anyone think that's acceptable?

OMG please wise up - P&C bays are a pointless GIMMICK by stupid retailers, not a right. You do not have any right in law to a wider bay.

No, UKPC are likely to sue you (not joking).

NEVER NEVER NEVER think you have a right to a ''SPECIAL'' bay. YOU DO NOT.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Never, ever, ever park in a disabled bay unless an occupant of the car is disabled.
Disabled bays are provided by law for disabled motorists in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, and are internationally recognised.
Parent and child bays are meaningless graffiti. Unfortunately your actions is one of the reasons these parking scammers exist.

You have not received a penalty.

The advice to ignore has not been given here since the law changed in 2012.

Please read the sticky thread for NEWBIES then send the appeal template you will find there, then start your own thread if you need further help.
Normally we would suggest complaining to the landowner/retail manager, but that is unlikely to work in your case.

  • I'm a bit confused tbh sorry. I've been reading through some of the topics and I've seen lots of people saying just ignore anything from UKPC parking charges. Something to do with the law in Scotland being different? And unless they know who the driver was then they can do anything apart from send you letters with big capital block letters demanding payment for months.

This is the first time you have mentioned Scotland. In Scotland ignore.

It's true they're not likely to pursue this in Scotland (we didn't know you stay there).

But never never do this again.

Thinks about what a daft 'P&C' bay actually is - pointless marks on the tarmac, there as a gimmick to make you feel 'special and wanted' and draw you into the shop.

Absolutely NOT an entitlement. And no, it serves no other purpose except to make parents' life easier, which is fine in principle, but they make people like you think you are entitled to a wide bay - you are not.

Nothing like a disabled bay, no comparison. Never stop in a disabled bay unless disabled.
