TSB to increase classic plus rate to 5%

The rate increase was said to be for "existing customers" not "existing accounts". It would be quite possible for them to restrict the 5% rate to one account per existing customer for those that have two accounts. Or just to the two sole accounts for a couple who have one joint account plus one sole account each. Or, in the latter example, just to the one joint account.Very good news - especially for those of us with more than 1...ahem.

Why does the cynic in me wonder (given how soon that date is) that this wasn't some part of a plan to make the account more attractive generally?
You're not suggesting they have deliberately sabotaged their new IT system, getting hugely bad press, and putting people off going with them, just so they could up the interest from 3% to 5%, in an effort to entice more custom.... are you?
Or do you mean they already had this rate rise in mind, and are spinning this as compensation for an awful project delivery?0 -
I'll take 5% for both accounts but if they close 2nd accounts, it'll be bye from me.
My 3rd Enhance account earned my 3rd switching bonus courtesy of TSB.0 -

The latter.
However, as MSE are now urging people to "give it a go" and ask for compensation even if they haven't been directly affected financially, then it seems the money left to compensate customers directly affected, and to spread some goodwill around generally, may be less generous than it could have been.

MSE's may be just the opinion of one person (ie the article writer) but I don't see millions of complaints encouraging gestures, as they are just blocking up lines and causing further problems for already very stressed staff.0 -

My thoughts exactly...would have stayed anyway, but the 5% will be much appreciated :j0 -
5% is nice. I am looking for money due to their incompetence and inconvenience caused to me. They refused to give me a bonus for switching my account to them a few months ago. The compensation will be poetic justice.
That will be because you didn't meet the criteria. Your fault, not theirs.0 -
5% yeah i am happy with that if it's true but we need official confirmation first until then it a rumour0
