Looking at what Lloyds group have done recently, it could be argued that the rate otherwise might have reduced to 1.5% AER to match. So we might potentially be 3.5% pa better off in the longer run.
There's a handy expression covering just such a scenario.... :)

Not sure if that's intended as flippant but as pointed out above, it's worth £30 per account per year, so even if you had a hundred filled accounts, you'd be earning an extra £3K a year. However, in order to do that you'd already have £150K of capital saved, so however you slice it, 2% really isn't a life changer....

Well that's true of anything regarding interest. I don't think interest gained, ever, could be life changing, due to it's small percentage of money you already have.

Yes, and im not a huge fan of the story in all honesty.

The part about encouraging people to claim for compensation even when they havent had any hardship, advising them there are no guarantees but to give it a go, is not very responsible in my opinion.

    Sorry, but I expected more.

Completely agree and all it does is push others with complaints where it has genuinely caused hardship further behind in the queue to be dealt with.

How selfish is that? We both bank with TSB and not being able to access our accounts caused a few rumbles from Mr S - but we are not out of pocket, and certainly won't be trying to claim any 'compo'.

The extra 2% on our accounts (one each plus a joint) is enough of an apology for us.

Agree, i too am a tsb customer, i have had issues accessing my account online and cannot now view the mortgage on internet banking, but what actual hardship is it causing to me, nothing. my debit card works, i can get my balance at an atm and my direct debits etc are going through ok. If i was too add my complaint to the many that are unfortunately bound to have jumped onto this as a way, i would be depriving those where it has seriously caused issues from being dealt with quicker. this compensation culture is going too far if you ask me, and comments such as in the mse mailing to just give it ago just encourages it further.
