buyers no longer leaving feedback

I know we discuss feedback a lot on here but it definitely looks like buyer feedback on ebay is getting rarer, which could be an issue whislt our metrics are based on the number of feedback left, not on total sales.
I'm just doing a general tidy up on my accounts, weeding out some old listings, tidying up photos etc and whilst I'm doing that I'm also browsing feedback left by my recent buyers. At least 25% of them have never left any feedback at all, none of these are new buyers either, one of them has in excess of 600 + feedback and have never ever left a single comment back.
Getting feedback or not doesn't really matter to me, but whilst ebay base some of our performance metrics on it then it might become a worry later for sellers who are borderline on their late defects marked automatically by tracking, or on stars where only unhappy buyers are leaving feedback.

I used to always leave feedback on ebay but then I started getting emails from sellers actively asking for feedback which I found very annoying. Then this turned into a trend of asking for 5 stars and letting them know if it wasn't going to be 5 stars.... As far as I am concerned 5 stars = perfection. Perfection is impossible. I just felt bullied into doing it so I stopped leaving it at all. I guess it relates to the introduction of the staring system rather than the +ve/-ve/netural and comment system. It also takes longer now.0

Likewise from the seller point of view. I realised the only reason I was paying for selling manager pro which is £60 quid a year was for auto feedback, something to bolster eBay's system, and something that didn't benefit me in the slightest. Now I just wait for buyers to request feedback and I do it there and then.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. When DSR's were first introduced as measurement for TRS a Top level "Pink" on another Forum (Tamebay??) inferred that if no feedback was left to a seller, then after 60 days / 3 months / whatever then automatic 5**** would be given so that your example above could not happen.
It could have been done very easily but it wasn't. I suspect because eBay was more concerned with reducing the number of sellers that it payed it's then higher TRS fee discount to.0 -
It's certainly on the decline, well for me it is. I'm lucky to get 2 feedback left in 10 transactions now.0

I'm a semi-regular buyer and similar to halogen I got fed up with the e-mails from some sellers. I try to leave feedback but got annoyed when I was e-mailed to ask why I had only left 4 stars for something. There seems to be an expectation that you should only leave 5 star feedback from some sellers which generally I do but I don't like to be told to leave it - it should be my choice.
However, since the feedback screen was updated I can't leave feedback. I just get the 'Oops. Something went wrong. Please try again.' message. So it could also be this reason that feedback has dropped off. I have tried to leave some feedback on 4 separate occasions now and I have officially given up. I dislike the new feedback screen anyway and as it doesn't work there seems to be no point to it.0 -
Have been a long time buyer on ebay and conscientiously always left feedback but recently became a seller and have been amazed how little feedback is left. Probably only getting 2 out of 10 responses0

Ebay still runs higher than Amazon for feedback. I probably get slightly more feedback by number on Ebay and I sell about 20 times the volume on Amazon.
That said, Amazon count no feedback as a positive. To crudely sum it up for Amazon, if I sell 100 items and receive just one feedback and it's a negative my seller rating (the value that Amazon see and judge on) shows as 99/100, on Ebay it would just show as -1 and 0%.
Before someone corrects me Amazon have various factors that they check and their feedback can look different depending where you look at it, I'm specifically referring to 'order defect rate' under 'performance metrics'..0 -

I have a problem on Amazon. I have sold over 2000 items and my feedback is 42 and falling. Unfortunately I had to cancel an order due to the item being damaged in storage, and received a 1 * negative from the buyer so I am heading towards zero feedback at this rate. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
I'm a regular buyer on ebay and have stopped leaving feedback for most transactions - they've changed the user interface and it takes significantly longer now!
I used to be able to leave feedback for 20+ transactions in a single screen - text boxes for a number of transactions visible at the same time, enter feedback in all of them, click "leave feedback" - all saved.
A couple of months ago, it changed - I now have to leave feedback for one transaction at a time - enter feedback, save, wait for page to refresh, repeat.
I now only leave feedback for a particularly good experience (or potentially for a particularly bad one though that hasn't happened yet) - I don't have the patience to leave feedback for everything with the new system!0 -
Hi, In my case its the sellers who in the past have not left feedback for me.0
