Must remember green means go on traffic light controlled roundabout, emergency services sirens, approaching about to jump red. Sorry it's green I can't stop!

Especially as the emergency services can use the bus lane in such circumstances...

Was the van in 1:16 wrong, as I thought you are not allowed on those lines?

The emergency driver can disobey the red stop sign, but they still have to drive with due care and attention to other road users.

I was driving at 30mph on a winding country lane, in a 30 limit yesterday afternoon, when a Police Transit came tearing up behind me with lights flashing and siren going !!

Would the speed limit have been 60mph? A 30mph speed limit where there is nothing but a winding road?

The Blue Light aware video contains this advice about red traffic lights:

Don't go though a red light

Why then did I recently see a police van with flashing blues with its uniformed passenger leaning out and gesticulating wildly and shouting at motorists at a camera controlled junction who had failed to cross the white line and enter a box junction?

Or does this count as "clear direction" from a uniformed officer?

I'd think so yes. Different rules for different emergency services.

    Highway Code Rule 130:

"Areas of white diagonal stripes or chevrons painted on the road. These are to separate traffic lanes or to protect traffic turning right.
    • If the area is bordered by a broken white line, you should not enter the area unless it is necessary and you can see that it is safe to do so.
    • If the area is marked with chevrons and bordered by solid white lines you MUST NOT enter it except in an emergency."
The area in the video was bordered by a broken line.

If you post a link to the actual location rather than just the road and county it would be easier to give advice.

It's yet another @50Twuncle drama queen thread, giving accurate information would defeat his purpose.

    :)

    It certainly seems that way.

There is no way there's a 4-5mile road without any opportunity to pass - it's either two-lane, or there's going to be passing places. B'sides, most truly "winding country lanes" are NSL, not 30.

Then we discover it's a trunk route, the A39...?!

Nah, credibility is stretched too far.
