The RSPCA charge £85 to adopt a kitten, wont let you have one if you don't have a garden or child under 5 it is moronic.. then they whine about havng so many... RSPCA euthanise thousands of kittens every year because their policies mean noone can adopt so they are overrun. They aren't the only ones either!! They also euthanise over a couple of years old pregnant queens so they don't have the problem of kittens.

    Anyway..

Squeak has got Star of the Week for being super at school.

Twinkle has grazed her knee again so is proudly displaying an Olaf plaster

I'm home alone so washing my nest and heading off to my nail appointment.

Morning all. Hope you're all ok. I've been AWOL as I've started the new job. It is brilliant. Am questioning why I stayed in my job that had been so miserable for the last couple of years.

Today, I have done all the dailies and watered the plants in the garden. I now need to walk the dogs, then I'm off to DD's house to await a delivery.

    Have a great day everyone.

Glad it's been a good move, Jazee.

Halfway through the night, when I got up to make a cuppa because I was so dry, I realised that I have probably got sinusitis, which accounts for aching all over and feeling so grotty. Tried to get a Dr's appointment for this morning but failed, so will have to drive to surgery in time for the 12.00 release of afternoon appointments and see if I can grab one of those.

I have had to cancel going on a Quiet Day tomorrow as I need the time for my essay :(

DH has gone to the railway today. I have tidied the kitchen and am about to start work for a couple of hours. I'll do the shopping while I'm out. That's about all I can manage. I struggled with mowing the lawn yesterday, which left me unable to take Rosie for the long walk she really wanted.

    Catch up later x

I'm so pleased for you Jazee! I know you were unhappy before you finally left your old job so it's great to hear that you've landed on your feet.

You might find the animal rescues in your area easier to deal with Mademoiselle. Please do try to adopt a rescue in the first instance; it breaks my heart to have to resort to the kitten option but if anyone has assessed Devil Cat and tried to match him to us we would never have been allowed to adopt him. He loved it here, absolutely loved his life with us, and had we handed him into an animal rescue as was my original plan when I took him in, we'd have missed out on all those wonderful years.

We're in good company; apparently a couple that OH goes running with on Friday mornings were also turned down on the basis that they didn't have a garden, but their daughter who lives on a main road was allowed to adopt a young cat because she did. Madness.

We've been told this morning that the RSPCA centre we adopted Kelpie from now has a matching service, so we'll be told which cats are suitable for us after we've been through their application process. Right. Obviously the home inspection we went through when he'd been here a month wasn't thorough enough, nor were the videos I sent of him settling in, or the emails about his progress.

On to happier subjects, I've rage-dusted this morning and even though it's sunny outside I'm going to do a lot more so that I can harness this energy and get this horrible job over and done with for another [STRIKE]week[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]month[/STRIKE] year. I've also checked all the smoke alarm batteries because what I really need right now is piercing shrieks, obviously.
    Better is good enough.

LW.. I hate eating too.. moreso when I cooked.. it is so boring, but sadly a necessity. Men at mitherers.. why do they do that? Mine is a huge delay-fish.. they are just giant toddlers at heart I swear!! Will he still not get an out of the house hobby? Get him an allotment for his birthday! he can grow you some beautiful veggies! Isn't he bored sat about all day?
No, I still can't get him out of the house without me. He hates gardening and in fact doesn't know a nettle from a nasturtium. He's quite happy to spend his days 1) Mithering about on the internet and reading out random bits he's found when I'm trying to concentrate on something; 2) Playing PC and PS2 games; 3) Reading. But he somehow needs to be in the same room as me; and in fact when he's decided to play Dragon Age Origins for the umpteenth time and I've said I'll go and sit in the bedroom for a bit of peace, he gets quite upset.

Sorry I've been awol last 2 days; we were out all day Weds, and I spent yesterday catching up with surveys and incoming post.

Failed miserably on scrimpers. However it was all financed out of the "£2 tin". ;)
    • Frame for new exam certificate (I got "Higher Distinction", btw) £4.50
    • New chopping board (with pic of wolves on) £12.00
    • Spoon with wolf on handle £2.00
    • T-shirt with pic of Nuka (a wolf) £16.00
The last 3 items were from the UK Wolf Conservation Trust, which is where we were on Weds. The Trust is closing at the end of Aug, as the founder is retiring and downgrading from a Zoo licence to a Dangerous Animals licence. The 10 resident wolves will be kept in the manner to which they are accustomed for the rest of their lives; but she won't be getting any new ones in, and no more breeding will take place (Nuka, Tala and Tundra, now 7 years old and the youngest there, are the offspring of Mai and Motomo).

We may get chance for one more visit before they close; it depends on my dogsitting bookings; but I wanted to ensure we went at least once. :o

Back lawn has been chopped and the bungalow vacuumed in readiness for Dusty's visit (he should be here shortly) and I did manage to give the bedroom a really good dust, moving ALL the pots and bottles off the dresser and cleaning the lot.

I've also rearranged my candlemaking stuff, utilising the containers from Indi and Buddy's food, which would otherwise have gone in the recycling, for old candle stubs, one container per colour. It's much tidier!
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Just popping on in my lunch break..

Well done to Squeak and to LW :T

That's really good news Jazee about the new job. Long may it continue.

It's a full day at work today, so this morning before I left I emptied the dw, cleared the ironing pile, loaded the wm for this evening, and threw out the rather sorry looking daffodils. I can't get my head around the fact that we seem to have gone from midwinter to blazing summer in 0-5 seconds! All my summer clothes are still safely packed away in the loft, as usually you get a bit of springlike warning. That's a job for the weekend's list.

Must get back to work, hopefully I can actually do something flying productive when I get home.
  • Offspring of the Parish were ridiculous today, mostly where bottles of water were concerned (they seem unaware that when it's warm, you're supposed to drink it, not wear it, so I spent as much as my time reorganising my [strike]pit[/strike] office as possible rather than interacting with them. It looks much better now I've [strike]shoved the things that need repairing or skipping into a cupboard[/strike] tidied up.

I suppose I should feel vaguely sorry for the newer IT staff, as their boss enjoys sending them over to deal with me if he thinks they're tending towards the 'Everybody else is stupid/women don't know **** about technical things' attitude. But, quite frankly, if they start trying to sound Important and Knowledgeable at me, they deserve all that's coming to them - and get it without fail. One got it today because he tried palming me off with an 'It's a network issue'. Yes, thank you - I know the generic term for something failing to connect - I didn't think it was a faulty flux capacitor or dilithium crystals needing regeneration, after all - but I would be most grateful if you could fix it before the next lesson starts.

Himself is now on a luxury cruise liner for the next part of his Jolly Rockstar Expedition. I'm torn between wanting it to be wonderful for him and doing a remote Rain Dance.

My generally polite yet withering misanthropy has been brought to you today by pain, excessive heat from the big burning ball of fire in the sky and the fact that I've still got another couple of hours to go cleaning the kitchen, dealing with nearly shedloads of washing I've just found he had decided to stash behind the studio door and something Evil left by the cat on the bathroom floor.

I might make myself a sandwich first. That normally cheers me up a tad.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Gardening done today and it doesn't look loads better - yet. It will but it's still suffering from not getting enough attention last year so there's a lot to sort out. I've come to the conclusion that bulbs in pots and troughs don't do well the second year so as soon as the flower are over I'm hoiking them out. OH is determined to do a bit of guerilla gardening with them so that's his job tomorrow, along with the compost I'm changing in various containers.

The bathroom looks much, much better and the bedroom window has had a thorough clean. Amazing what a bit of energy can make possible. I've even dusted the rest of the landing. Still to do: the TV area in the sitting room and my office, but that's all for The Annual Dust. I might try and keep up a bit this year and see if that makes things a little bit less depressing and faffy.

Fingers crosssed for us at 5.00 pm tomorrow evening please for this and this.
    Better is good enough.
