Hi all
Sun is shining here but breezy - cycled to work and back, 4 hours on job no. 1, just having a cuppa then going to tackle the mountain of work to do on job no. 2. However, DS2 needs picking up at 4.40pm, bringing home and taking to footie for 6pm. And I have put a joint of lamb in sc so have to fit cooking a roast in somewhere.
Wondering if DS1 would take his brother to footie for me. Otherwise it means a 20 minute drive x 4 - or staying at footie for a couple of hours.
HB glad you are taking your time. When we got our rescue dog we had about a five minute chat with a member of staff. He was the completely wrong dog for us and when we struggled with him we were given a couple of short sessions with a behaviourist who told us cheerfully that most of his problems could not be resolved - but then they said that it would make it far worse for him if we returned him. We still have him and have worked really hard on his behaviour but I think I would be reluctant to have another rescue.
Right, paid stuff.0 -
YL, I really feel for you. One of the rescue dogs I took on never really seemed to belong here, if you know what I mean. I always think the first two weeks are a nightmare, that I've made a mistake, chosen the wrong animal and it'll never fit in, and then, usually dog or cat, they miraculously do. I'm sorry you're still having a hard time with your rescue.
I feel a bit beleaguered today with perfectly nice people expecting a great deal from me that I don't actually want to give. I think it's time to pull up my big girl's knickers.Better is good enough.0 -
There are no cups, spoons, glasses or plates clean in the Staffroom. I've looked at the mountains and visibly twitched, but fortunately, the people who saw me do it last time have insisted that I don't touch it.
I had something dumped on me to deal with today and took a little comfort in making sure that my sorting it out via email/phone was heard/seen and incredibly efficient and professional throughout, using all the technical words and details I usually don't bother with because Very Important People tend to glaze over when they don't understand what I'm talking about. It also means I'm having a sort of professional (in terms of the job, not the the pompous handshakes, suits and fancy shoes kind) meeting next week. Yup, they're trusting me to represent the place on a professional basis and make decisions All By Myself. They must be desperate - or completely disinterested...
There is also a mountain of washing up at home. I don't see why I should have to do that, either. But I probably will in the end. It's too hot and my feet are too unhappy to stand for ages doing it right now, though. The fact I was sent a photo of Himself at lunchtime where he is unshaven, wearing a Union Flag bandana (ugh!) and sunglasses, looking incredibly relaxed and pleased with himself in front of the luxury hotel pool might have slightly irked me. Tempted to send him back a photo of the mess I've been left to deal with...I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

I cleaned my shoes, the shower room, printed off complicated things because I haven't got a smartphone, and then found myself touching up the scruffy paintwork in the kitchen. Admittedly the walls have needed it for years but really, the dusting HAS to be done at some point and I made such great progress yesterday, so I'm a bit cross with myself really.
Oh you and me both HB, you and me both. Tuesday's dusting was replaced by all sorts of other, far more interesting, jobs.
Yesterday disappeared in a whirl of errands and appointments. The most satisfying part of the day was finally getting a new watch battery sorted. How sad was that?
The house is getting on top of me atm. DH barely lifts a finger recently - I know that he is still coming to terms with DFiL dying at the end of the year, so, mindful of everything you wise ladies say, I am trying to give him space. I really am. All I see when I look around me is the hovel that our house has become, and the long list of things that I need to get done, and appointments that need to be kept. Sorry - just offloading - Thank you. X
So today is a full day at the half day job. I have to meet the accountant this afternoon to finalise the year end (hopefully), and then I'm aiming to bring the job back to half day that it is supposed to be. We have DH's family coming at the weekend. That isn't a problem as we do all get on, but it does mean that I have to turn one of the RoD into a presentable bedroom. And find the bed under the flingage that is piled on it. Adding it to the list.
Have lovely days all. It looks fab weather out there - I am so wishing that I could play truant.0 -
Yesterday was lost in a sea of dr's appointments, shop, school and childcare.. Little Jasper has a very sore abcess on his bottom so had to have a trip to the hospital so I had my lot, 2 grandbeasties.. then DS1 turned up with his oldest.. I got out of bed before 8am and sat down after 9pm.. today, as predicted, I can barely walk.. however, I shall drug that as I have OH home until 1:30 to boss about and demand tasks done... He is SO useful... just waiting him for finish grinding his breakfast between his gnashers... honestly, it's like listening to horses eat apples and rocks!!
OH's tasks.

I need to pop back to drs for a couple of forms for medical exemption of prescription charges.. one for me and one for DS3. I have 4 weeks to get those sorted before our next prescriptions are due.
