(((Hugs))) donnajt. Don't be afraid to grieve, and we are always here for you x

Glad to hear of delight/relief with Flykids' school admissions :)

I had a lovely weekend way at the conference, with lots of German being spoken, at a place noted for the excellence of its food, so the Slinky challenge is going very badly atm. The first night away, I slept on my left side (I usually lie on my right) on two pillows which were slightly too thick and hard for me, so I have ended up with a very stiff neck. My arthritis is also playing up big time with the cold weather today, I feel so grotty that I dozed on the sofa for an hour before lunch, and I'm even going to take Rosie part of the way by car to reduce the length of our walk to the fields - she can run around by herself while I shuffle along.

However, I can report some positive news, with flingage taking place, as the charity shop collectors came for the cot, wall unit and bag of bedding. Unfortunately they didn't want the cot mattress or the two carver chairs ("We only take sets of four!"), so DH is dropping off the mattress plus a tin of solid paint at the tip, and asking another CS about the chairs, during his trip to the bank this afternoon.

I have just started WM load 3 of 4. I have stripped the guest bed, and the rest of the house is tidy enough to ignore for another couple of days. This essay won't write itself.

Afternoon everyone. Hugs for Donna and anyone who needs them.

I've had a busy morning. Two dogs walks, the bathroom is now really sparkly and I've caught up on cleaning the floors and doing the ironing.

Next I will start on today's list.
Spend less now, work less later.

Somebody was twatting about so late last night (because he decided to spend the day working on a website and then attempt to do the online check in - which obviously was never going to work at the last minute, was it?) that he overslept.

Fortunately, for the second day in a row, I managed to wake up instantly and realise he was still there. He then proceeded to stumble around and, yes, mither about making tea and my lunch. He had his phone and charger pushed into his hands whilst I blocked his escape from the room where his case was and told to get his **** together and go.

He got to check in on time, and by the looks of online trackers, take off went to plan as well.

I am still expecting a text the instant he's landed to say he's fine.

I've looked at the kitchen, which is full of detritus and decided I'm buying a takeaway tonight.

Back to normal life after visitors/visiting/Easter/birthday madness. Well, as normal as I ever get - which isn't very.
    - spare room bedding washed, hung out and brought in.
    - Mum taken to catch her bus home
    - 1 report finished, checked and emailed.
    - Another report started.
    - various emails sorted.
    - Paperwork printed off for tomorrow's assessment.
    - spent too long looking at things on the internet
    - Mr N did loads in the garden
    - Filled bird feeders
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.

Huge (((hugs))) Donna. It takes time, longer than you'd think, so be very kind to yourself. I second Pigpen's idea of getting some ready meals and fruit in to help with making sure you've always got something you can rely on to see you through.

Awww, bless; take your time; when the right cat appears to fill that cat-shaped hole in your lives, you'll know.
Personally, I reckon Devil Cat is still there with you, just not in tangible form. x

We met a lovely little chap today, but we're not the right home for him sadly. He needs a calmer household and I think Kelpie's not the right dog if he goes to a house with dogs, either. It was, however, a fabulous animal rescue organisation with a cracking reputation that matches animals to people very, very carefully.

You're quite right, LW. The Spirit of Devil Cat lives on in our hearts. I can't bring myself to vacuum the claw marks from the dining room carpet, or the smudges by the cat flap and on the stairs by the stairgate. They'll be 'unflown' for a very long time.

I meant to dust again today, I really did. I cleaned my shoes, the shower room, printed off complicated things because I haven't got a smartphone, and then found myself touching up the scruffy paintwork in the kitchen. Admittedly the walls have needed it for years but really, the dusting HAS to be done at some point and I made such great progress yesterday, so I'm a bit cross with myself really.
    Better is good enough.
  • Well, he made it there in one piece - and remembered to let me know he had.

I'm going to have a relatively early night and think about hitting the kitchen after work tomorrow - I've already done more than my part of the staff room rota on Monday - and let the rest of the department know that I wouldn't be doing it again this week (because I did it all last time) - it'll be interesting to see what happens tomorrow when there aren't any mugs, plates or clean cutlery. Teachers without easy access to coffee. Because other teachers think that the rota doesn't apply to them. Hmmm. Maybe I should set up a secret camera?

Morning all, lovely day here so I'm up and raring to go.

Yesterday was a very long day, left the house at 8.30, worked straight through until 7.00 then out for an interesting evening, Cafe des langues, basically a meet up with a drink with the objective of speaking different languages with all sorts of different people. Met loads of different folks, interesting but quite hard work, got home at 10.00. So no flying done yesterday but no mess made either. I did manage to make my bed and tidy round before I went out and unloaded DW when I got in.

At work most of today but a slightly later start and finish at 5.00 so hope to get a bit more done. Although it will need to be clean jobs this morning so I guess I had better finish the ironing and tidy up the paperwork tray in the kitchen, mainly filing.

    Hugs to all
    xx

    A day planned of:-
    Grass cutting
    Power washing
    Fence painting

It is sunny so no reason why I shouldn't get at least 90% of it done
