    I was thinking about hiring a rug doctor last month and it seemed a bit steep considering i have to do all the hard work myself :P

    So i decided to try a carpet cleaning company & they seemed to be cheaper than hiring and i didnt have to do it myself either lol :P

    Company i used was called cleanstar think thier website was "cleanstar dot co dot uk" and i would definatley recommend them

    I Totally Agree with you Tripper!

    I used to buy vax machines from argos, they never cleaned properly let alone break after a couple of use! i too used to used to hire the rug doctor from supermarkets , not only it cost me over £70 to get my lounge done with the chemicals, but still wasnt quite all there with it , in fact i was shattered lol.

    I too used cleanstar in the end.... they only charged me just £80 in the end to clean 4 rooms, they did a plush job all around for what i call value for money! i have used them twice now in the past 15 months now and each time its just perfect! i personally think they're great!

    Tripper there website is in fact : www cleanstar co uk

    Rugdoctor = £50 to hire once for 24 hours
    Bissell = £100 and yours forever ;)

    Rug Doctor will clean far deeper=less time spent cleaning!

    go to prochem and look at their spot and stain removal machine around 400pound but will last a lifetime plus give you really good results trust me on this

    neil:D

    I'd concur with that.

    Alternatively, if your budget won't stretch then look at the Karcher machines.

    can anyone suggest is it better to buy rug doctor? is it the best carpet cleaner available?

    thanks
  • You are probably best off renting a carpet shampooer and using the solution that goes with it or have the carpets steam cleaned
  • Id definitely say that the best carpet cleaners come from Bissell or Hoover. The Bissell Proheat series works extremely well for a home edition cleaner. It works just as if you had gotten a steam cleaning service to come and do your carpets professionally. If I don't have a Bissell, then the Hoover Steamvac is my next option. These are also extremely effective and I'd definitely recommend you get the one with Clean Surge so that you can clean those extra tough spots out!
  • I hired a company to clean my lounge carpet and it looked wonderful when they had finished it.I was charged £75 for it and although only 3 months ago the carpet is looking worse now than it did before it was cleaned.I do believe it is imperative to buy your own machine and keep going over it every 3 months the problem is which machine.I have just read reviews on the Bissell proheat which really slated it for breakdowns and bits breaking off,i was ready to buy one for £200 although this site states they are all around £100 but that is way out.The cheapest are the Vax but they are reported to leak so which cleaner is best? It is impossible to understand as some people have had them for years and the same model breaks down on its first use with others.I am lost maybe I should buy a second hand Kirby.

    The Bissell Proheat range currently have £50 off their prices on the website - plus i received a code today for a further £50 off - if interested quote PROHSEP in the discount code box once the item is in your basket.
