Equally, I find it a bit disappointing that I'm discussing and thinking about drawing up a legal document for a relationship. Is this indicative of what a modern relationship has been driven to? Do we live in such a compensation led society that we have to protect ourselves against every eventuality?

    Aye. Well Said.

Makes me glad that me and my girlfriend share some pretty old fashioned views.

    Completely OT rant...
I might not want to be nice to all moneysavers. If MSE is representative of the general population, then there must be plenty of people on here who I wouldn't want to be nice to.

This "please be nice to all moneysavers" cr*p is a huge hinderance when there are people on here who blatantly need to see sense. Would a better rule not be "be nasty to all moneysavers when they're acting like prats"?

The problem with the country today is that everyone has gone soft. There wouldn't be half the number of people posting for help on DFW if someone had shown them some tough love while they were growing up.

    Rant over.

Actually, I tend to agree with you here. MSE can sometimes be a bit nicey nicey *hugs* for me sometimes too. But them are the site rules, if you don't like it you don't have to use this forum.

I would say that you have taken it too far the other way though. Somewhere out there a real live person who is pregnant and worried about their home and (possibly) not as lucky as you to be in such a secure relationship, just had a perfect stranger insult them and tell them they will be a bad mother. Just take a few seconds to think about how that would feel if you were that person.

Would you say a comment like that to someones face?

There was nothing constructive or helpful in that particular comment so I don't think you can use the defence of tough love.

so do my girlfriend and I, but that doesn't mean that a bitter break up and a friend saying "that man's a daaaawg. you should get what you're worth girrrrrrrrrrrlfriend" *snaps fingers several times* couldn't occur down the line.

(and no, this isn't meant to be as sexist as it sounds) :A

I've been using these forums for over three years. It's only recently that certain do-gooder members are shoving this message down others throats.

If I found someone insulting me then I'd consider why this is the case. Sometimes I might agree with the insult, other times I might disagree. I don't take offence easily though.

If it makes anyone take a good look at themselves and think properly about stuff then is is constructive and helpful.

You missed out the death threats by PM.
There are times on here it is difficult to "be nice to all moneysavers" when you are sure that they aren't understanding the point you are making or wouldn't, for example, know which end of a paintbrush to hold.

I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

I wasn't lucky enough to get one!

If anyone wants to PM me death threats then feel free. I feel very left out here.

I didn't get one! I know one or two were sent recently that's all. I wonder if the thread is still there?

Someone who is much funny than me should do a rift of how the boyfriend is lucky not to have a share of the house as prices are giong to crash and he would be left in negative equity and if he waits another 6 months he could probably buy the girlfriends house from her with the tuppence in change he found at the bottom of the sofa.

this is how wars start!! just cause one (or two) MSE's have send "death threats" that gives licence to everyone to make very personal & hurtful insults to every poster???

I totally agree that sometimes it is difficult to be nice to people but I don't really think that can be the reason here: The OP never replied (I wonder why!) so we don't know if they have understood the point or not.

I'm quite outstanded by the arrogance of some people on here who think they know the OP so well that they know what is better for them and think they have the right to insult them to get their point across. Nevermind the intolerence shown to anyone who doesn't have a perfect traditional family arrangment - have we regressed to the 60's?? are we going to ask the OP to have a backstreet abortion or banish her to an unmarried mothers home?? jeez!
