You don't get something for nothing. The reason 18866 is so cheap is because the line quality is often terrible. Sometimes it's so bad I have had to hang up and dial direct. :-[

Maybe you have just been unlucky. I have never had a problem with line quality with 18866.0

Neither have I suffered that problem. You don't get something for nothing. The reason 18866 is so cheap is because the line quality is often terrible. Sometimes it's so bad I have had to hang up and dial direct. :-[
Tell you what, I won't tell anyone if you keep paying 3p per minute to BT for your UK calls and, while you do so, I'll carry on paying a flat rate 1p per call to 18866!

I too have found the line quality good to excellent. However they have bumped up a lot of the prices lately.0

Line quality, wouldnt know i was using 18866 apaft from the 1p connection charge, only moan, is 1 day when i couldnt make any calls via the 18866 service, but it was up and running the next day.0

I've never had any problem with 18866, if however you feel that the call quality is not up to scratch it may be worth speaking to BT, NTL etc who maintain the line.0

I am now failing to connect more times than I manage to connect.
(020 8958 exchange)
I get duo tone system engage tone
or
Constant tone
or
Nothing
Can't connect to NHS Direct. It's a strange 4 digit 0845 4647
Can't connect to 00800 numbers.
I know I should dial them without the prefix, but have progged my phones & faxes to prefix 18866. 'Tis a pain.0 -
No problems here. My mum and dad use the service at their house and she says that in the evening they occasionally have to dial a number 2 or 3 times as it doesn't connect immediately but that its not a problem.

I have had one problem when someone reported to me that the line was bad - though it sounded alright at my end. Other than that it has been great !To infinity and beyond!0

Maybe I'm having problems because I make a lot of international calls. The line quality is definitely inferior if I use 18866. Same call without 18866 is crystal clear so it's not a problem with my line.0

18866, great stuff!! My BT bill has gone down from 80 pounds per month to less then 10!! I´m in Spain at the moment spending the money that I´ve saved on my BT bill. Sound quality is like the cost of calls, great!0
