Hi there redruby...
Yep you can do it in the liquidiser... my mum used to years ago.... the onion might taste a bit bitter mind....but you could use the philli type stuff with cives or garlic n herbs......I love HM meat spread, you will need to take it out of the fridge to soften before trying to spread it.... and its lovely on toast.... The lengths i go to not to throw food away....

Hester,
That's shocking. Am I right that you work in a school, if so is it a private school? I am sure if it's a state school you woul dhave the right to some (paid) compassionate leave. Even if it's not an entitlement any decent employer would realise that they were only building up resentment by acting like this. Hugs to you. Great blog btw.
Welcome back Pen pin I don't post very much but I read nearly every day and have been keeping up with your progress.
Haribo - hope you feel better soon.0 -
Afternoon everyone. Didn't get a chance on here yesterday.
PENPIN - so good to have you back - make sure you follow doctor's orders. Glad you've got extra help and hope you don't have to wait too long for the stairlift.
MRSMIX and LUXOR - hope the vampires were kind to you both.
DOGROSE - welcome home!
HESTER - sorry to hear about your uncle. (((hugs))) to you.
HARIBO - hope your back gets better soon. I slipped a disc about ten years ago and did a very good impression of the woman on Doc Martin last night.
AMIE - when we first moved into this house, my DH locked himself out twice in the first week and had to phone me at work to come home and let him in! He's worse than anyone I know for forgetfulness!
Well, the news from Cyprus re MIL is very uncertain. They took her off the ventilator on Sunday; they did it very gradually, then, yesterday they took her off the sedative and today are carrying out brain stem tests so, we're none the wiser until they come back with the results, hopefully later on this afternoon. She is still unconscious. DH's sister is still out there and is able to stay until the weekend (fortunately, her DH was having time off work, anyway, so he's looking after their two girls). DH's eldest brother is flying out tomorrow for a week, then the second eldest brother will go out and take over, followed by my DH the week after that. FIL has sorted out his car insurance so that they can all drive his car while they are out there. Whether MIL pulls through or not, we don't want FIL out there on his own because his health is not too good, either. He won't be able to look after himself properly, let alone MIL if she needs a lot of care. He's still taking it very badly - I don't know how he'll cope if the worst happens. He cries on the phone and DH said he's never known his Dad to show such emotion. Still, she may pull through and may still have a good quality of life; I've been telling everyone not to 'write her off' yet! She is normally a very strong, positive and active lady.
I haven't been sleeping again lately - I just think there's too much going on in my poor head and I've been getting 'restless legs'! It hasn't helped that DH finished his work too soon last week and doesn't need to go back until Thursday so - as usual - my best laid plans have gone out of the window again. Mind you, he will always do the ironing when he's not working AND without being asked! It's only taken me 30 odd years to train him to that high standard!
I am also conscious of how Christmas is looming up - I was going to start wrapping up this week but DH being home has made me put it off.
The weather has been beautiful here for the last few days - can't believe we can still peg the washing out. I want to mow the lawn but the grass doesn't seem to dry out enough - I think we need a few windy days for that.
Well, I'm going to put the kettle on for another cuppa so will call in later.
(((hugs))) to all who are in need. Have a lovely afternoon.

Ooh I like Paul Rankin:D Out of all the celebrity chefs, he's my favourite. Such a nice easy manner and none of the pretentiousness that lots have. He's got a nice Canadian wife who cooks too.You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
MIOLIERE...........I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you.......

Hi Snoozer
I work for a state school, we have a strict policy for comp. leave 10 days for partner or child, 1 week for a parent & 3 days for a sibling. We had an email round just before we broke up as someone had 2 days off when her dog died. If we want anything else we have to grovel & I'm not the groveling kind.
Glad to hear your home PP.
Hugs Hester
