Wow DIA - you've really taken the bull by the horns and come out winning! :j

I'm sure you will achieve your goals, and as Sinatra sang - You'll do it your way.:D
Thanks Crystal :) I find when I do most things 'my way' it works better for me.
You're really taking your health seriously which is brilliant DIA. As you say the only missing component is exercise. You need to find something you enjoy. The thing that gets me out of the door on my walks, is that I know I will sleep better and feel less tense after my walk.

a very brisk walk for a mile or so might ust be the easiest thing - not massive calories, but good for health and metabolism. Plus at its simplest its free and close to home (so long as its safe)
Thanks both :) I agree, walking is the answer for me. Now, just to do it!

Wow, dia, sorry to read about your builder. I got my gutters and facias done last week and it ended up £900 over budget! BUT I was kept informed, given two different choices (one was cheaper) and like you, shown photos of the state of my roof! I didnt brave a ladder, but tbh I could see the rotten batons from the ground they were that bad! Like you November is going to be a very tight month money wise!
Thanks Drawingaline :) Well done on getting your gutters/fascias in before winter. My builder WAS a nightmare, and the extra cost was a sharp intake of breath, but the work is okay and I survived :)

I'm intermittent fasting and I really enjoy it. I do aim to have an 8 hour eating window but it does depend when I finish work as sometimes it gets shortened a bit. I don't find myself being hungry at all and feel I make better food decisions. My dad has gone one step farther than me and does OMAD (one meal a day) and loves it.

6 weeks until the sabbatical is great! Will give you time to sort through everything and decide where you stand.
Thanks Lonelyrat :) Glad the IF is working for you.
I really need the sabbatical it can't come soon enough ;)
How are you DIA you haven't been around for a couple of days, hoping the cold hasn't made you really unwell.
Thanks for checking with me Cumbria. I appreciate it. :)
I've been a bit under the weather so I'went off grid for a few days :o

The last few days I have felt a bit down. In the early mornings I spend an hour or so just thinking about all sorts of stuff that I could do without thinking. I think the answer is just to get up straight away when I wake and do something...

I know exercise would help but I keep putting this off and this frustrates me. I know what to do, it is just about the doing it. I want to build a more active life but I need to push through into action.

I have kept going with the house as I want to keep up the momentum. ;)

The house is a mess generally but it is a bit of a mess rather than a disgusting mess.;)

    MSE :money:

Kitchen hallway floors steam cleaned :T

We have all survived the week and the weekend is here. Well done us

  • A good idea to get up rather than lie in bed thinking negative thoughts.

The hardest thing with exercise is getting started. Can you have a star chart for yourself or some kind of rewards system to motivate you to go for walks?

Good luck finding your best walking spot / favorite route.

Seriously how about spending £40 and getting a Nintendo wii with Wii sports or Wii fit on ebay. My OH used it for months back in the day before the kids moved onto other platforms. You can do walking, stepping and other things - I'm sure more modern things are available as well. The net result with winter and a bit of introversion you can ignore the world for a bit and just walk inside with the telly on. or howa about some green goddess or other Yoga/keep fit videos or one of those elaborate ab/toning devices you see on shopping channels - all of these are mainly cheap and totally private - you just need to decide which you do

My theory is here is that exercise is important. you can get fresh air and mindfulness separately. Maybe a touch frivolous - sorry - but perhaps some elemnts of truth. The things I am suggesting range from marginally expensive to £1 in a charity shop - who knows which one will make you happy
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

Thanks Mark88. I know what type of exercise would suit me, what the options are and how important it is. That is the frustrating part. It is the doing it that I am having a problem with. I'm sure I will find my groove soon :)

A WFH day and then a few days off :)

I still feel low and tired and my stomach is upset. I think this may all be connected to my cold as still disgustingly snotty.

I now have 5 weeks to go before I go leave. The closer it gets the more difficult it is to keep going.

I have to nail this exercise thing. I bought a cheap DVD but I need an attachment as DVDs are becoming old tech and I am attaching it to my new TV. It costs £10! I will look for some exercise DVDs in charity shops over the next few days.

I’ve seen some hiking boots. They are mens, but start at size 6. Going to Marks tomorrow to track them down.

Have a good day everyone :)

Wet and cold outside so I'm in for the evening. Really feel like a glass of wine and, or chocolate. Not having either. Going to claim a NSD instead.

Hope everyone is warm and dry :)
