  • You are doing so well. You'll feel better when all the rotten wood is replaced so it will all be worth it in the end.

Pilates is very relaxing. It's the slow deliberate movements with soothing background music I think, plus the teacher has a soothing voice. It's a very mindful activity. I always feel both stretched and relaxed when I come away.

Glad that you managed to cope with the builder & the price increase for the work.

Glad to hear things are moving forward with the house, but sorry to hear about the price increase and your anxiety. It'll be worth it though, and as you said, hopefully as the week goes on it'll be easier having him around. Although the price has increased, at least the root of the problem was identified and it'll be fixed properly. Every cloud...

I'm pretty cold here too, especially with such a sedentary job and I find my heating is on a lot. Trying to do things like get out to the gym at lunchtime to heat me up throughout the day.

Your food sounds delicious too! :)

Beauty/ Movie night sounds well and truly fab. I think I'll get involved too.. Currently if I feel like relaxing I have a foot soak with epsom salts and pop some lavender oil on. Adding in a nice face mask then a movie would make my life seem very, very indulgent. I like the sound of it ;) What kind of face packs are you going to get?

Glad the builder came and it sounds like it went well. Obviously not great there's been a price increase BUT at least the problem was identified and there's a plan of action. Very well done!
    Stay snuggly :)

Backatcha ;):o I got some thermals from M&S before our last camping trip. Not the cheapest, but by golly I was snug! Would definitely recommend. Being warm is so important and if you spend on thermals/ layers/ hot water bottles then you won't have the heating on as much.

Hope today went well with the builder

Thanks Lonelyrat :) In truth I haven't even set up the SMART on my TV or even set up my DVD (it needs a cable) so movie night is at least a week away. I love your foot soak idea and stealing it. My face pack is a tube of posh rose clay and I got it for £4 in a CS new although it retails at £30!! I bought a facial scrub that I haven't used so will do that too.

I spent last night at the theatre and had a wonderful time.

On the downside the builder shouted at me yesterday. I asked him to come inside so we could talk quietly. He felt I should not come out as often to see what he was doing. I queried his defensive reaction. He said I went out 9 times on Wednesday. I hadn't counted but maybe I did? I felt uncomfortable but explained I was paying for a job and had every right to look at it when I chose. In the end I left him outside working and went to meet my friend.

It looks fine today so I'll give him his space as the job finishes tomorrow but I won't be using him again as it is really important I feel comfortable in my own space.

I called the lovely lady decorator I found and we spoke about doing the room once the new window goes in. That made me feel better.

I am calling a window company for a quote today.

Builder just called. It's raining. He can't come this morning. What a shame :j:j:j

  • I wouldn't use a builder who shouted at me either DIA. How upsetting for you. His temper has cost him future work. You're paying for the work after all. He obviously likes to be left to get on with it, but you need reassurance.

I suspect the lady decorator will be more amenable.

    Glad you enjoyed the theatre.

    Thanks Hairyhand

Without this negative experience I would not have decided not to let him do the window. So it clarified I need a double glazing firm. It also prompted me to call the lady decorator again, so all good :)

I just swallowed a frog outstanding for months and called a window company. I have an appointment for next week. :T
