Abroad is over rated. My idea of a holiday is being able to stay at home0

I think it takes some time to adjust from having to scrimp wherever we can, to choosing to scrimp where we want in order to spend in other areas.
I know you have said you really want to get your house sorted asap, but you do have control of that and some flexibility. If going away at Christmas would be worth waiting another month on the house, or changing something else, then I really think you should look at whether it's possible. You need joy in your life quickly as well as longer term - none of us know what is going to happen in the future, so when we have the grace to be able to choose to do something fabulous, take it and run

Just popped in to say hi DIA.
I read most of your diary at work last week!!!! Have now subscribed.
Although our circumstances are different there are so many similarities with thinking and eating those frogs. I deliberate and worry about getting things done and everything seems such a trial.
Am gaining confidence by your words and honesty.
Thank you

Thank you for all the insightful and helpful posts. I appreciate them. I find this community of kind hearted, clever people so inspiring to be around. :A
In particular your post Rosa gave me food for thought and Mrs Boo Boo thank you for your kind comments too.
After years living with a broken TV I bought a new one today :T I talked it through with a friend and the TV will be fine until I have more money when I will buy a bigger one and use this one as a bedroom TV. It cost me £70 more than a similar TV ‘on sale’ in Curry3. However it includes a 5 year warranty (J0hn L.) instead of a 1 year warranty. It will be delivered for free so that is nice too. This TV is more expensive but better value overall and that makes it MSE
I also bought a small radio/alarm clock for my bedroom. It was reduced to £20 and it is mega cute.
I have the quote for the kitchen in my inbox. I am ignoring it. I am ignoring all house related stuff for a few more days.
I am getting better at reversing into my drive.:T
The jury is still out for me on what to do about my holiday but I want to let that go for now. Sometimes the answer arrives for me when I let it go.
I have a chest infection that arrived on Saturday. A migraine turned up at the same time so when I was being sick I couldn’t breathe because of the head cold. It was so tragic that it is funny looking back. I had 2 weeks off at the end of July so I will battle through this. I replenished my wellness kit by buying vitamin C, zinc, vapour rub, paracetamol, and a headache relief stick that you apply to your forehead.
I have had a quiet few days. I hope you are enjoying your BH weekendIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Hooray to new TVs and alarm clocks.
Hoping you feel much better tomorrow. As you say everything will happen in its own time.

Hope you feel better soon DIA.
Time out sounds like a good plan. I think I will follow your example as I realised I've run myself a bit ragged taking on too many things at once as usual. Focusing on a couple of projects and taking time out from others will help.

The squirrels are back. It is a shock as I have done the chewed wiring and sealed the holes so I cannot risk them chewing the new wiring. I feel down about this and found it hard to sleep last night. In the end I slept in my living room. On the plus sideI know who to go to this time.
The cold has moved from my head to my chest. Still not nice but at least I can breathe more easily. Determined not to get stressed and stay positive. I have options. I will be okay. I have planned a walk on Thursday somewhere nice to destress
I chased up an electrician contact I had a lead on. A good vibe. He is on holiday and said to call him next week to arrange something.
I chased another electrician contact. Not as good a vibe. And he could come immediately and sounded a bit odd so I’m trusting my gut and letting him go.
A builder that is supposed to be great but is not always in the UK is due back at the end of September so that is another lead.
Reviewing finances re house and wondering if there might be other ways of doing this whole operation. In the meantime I’m going to keep plodding. Homegrown once said if you keep throwing enough at it, something will stick. Hoping that is true.
