I hope you responded to the handyman that you didn't ask for his advice, you asked for the builder's number. I think it's perfectly reasonable to say that you're more than capable of handling the builder on your own. That frustrates me! If I want advice, I will ask for it. Don't just assume that because I'm a woman, I need it.

Shame about the TV, but then it's one less thing to come out of October's budget if it broke then...

I think it's a nice idea to keep your appointments to particular days. It makes the non-appointment days less stressful.
Thanks Homegr0wn. I totally wussed out with the handyman and just said 'great, thanks.' :o

Can you do without the TV for a bit and watch online? I moved house without a TV around 20 years ago as I couldn't afford one and haven't got round to getting one yet...
Thanks Greenbee. I had no TV for years so yes I could do without one, but I've spent too many years going without and now I don't want to unless I have to. I'll have less money after this month as it will be my last full time salary so this is probably the best month to do it. I've been playing with my budget and September should be a very low fares month and my gym membership is over too combined savings of £150 so it won't be so bad.

Today I did my presentation and I received fab feedback. :) I have been wound up for days about this. I tried telling myself that based on past experience it would go well but it that did not seem to calm me. I have so little faith in my abilities and I honestly don’t know why. There was a posh lunch that I could not eat due to nerves too. A bit rubbish. But hey ho, it is over and it went well. Until the next time ;)

I was also fretting that I had gone overdrawn on the new discretionary spending account. Checked today and there is still £8 in there so not overdrawn ;)

Popped into MnS for eggs and bought a lovely bouquet £7.50 reduced to 75p. Bought them as a well done me pressies :):money:

So tonight I need to get the house straight so the kitchen installer can measure up. He is coming at 7am so I have to go to bed with a clean kitchen tonight

I also have a plumber coming in the evening tomorrow then my discomfort is over for a few days ;)

I hope you had a positive day too reader

  • Well done on your presentation. That's what I call a 'game face' situation.
You put your game face on, compartmentalise and go for it. It does take practice but does work.

The kitchen planner has been and gone. Because it was so early I had no time for the stress to kick in. The work is going to be so expensive. In addition I need to put in a new fuse board. I knew about that and I wanted to do that a while ago but that adds on quite a bit. I am going to have to do this work. The only place I am can see to cut back and still pay for all this is by minimising fares and minimising food costs. This month I am going to try very hard to get these two costs down.

When I started getting debt free I really ran with NSDs and I have stopped doing these. I need them back! I am going to start with not spending on Tuesday and Wednesdays.

I have the bedroom redecoration, a window and the kitchen to do next

I have a reduction in income and some very expensive work coming up and I have added a car to my costs and I need to understand that quickly. Dave Ramsey talks about becoming ‘gazelle intense’ about debt and that is what I need to be about using the money I have to get this house sorted so I can move by 2020

Off to get coffee not that I need it. The shock of the costs coming up have me wide awake.

Have a good day reader :)

  • You're going great guns, maybe booking early appointments with tradespeople is something to consider. Glad the presentation went well. Maybe the universe wanted to give you a bouquet!

Well done on the presentation DIA! I too get nervous about speaking like that in front of people, but only really if i'm standing up. Sounds crazy but if i'm presenting something in a meeting from my seat, I'm not bothered about it. As soon as I'm standing up in front of people, I dread it.

Wow to the kitchen price shock! Although, I suppose it's better to happen now than months down the line when you have no time to do anything about the money.

It's a good idea getting back on board with NSDs if you can. It's hard because you're free of the debt so it means you shouldn't have to cut back on luxuries, but as you note, your circumstances have changed and you have new goals now so it's important to keep on track. I hope you get a plan in place!

Thanks INOD. I try for early morning appointments but most people won't come before 8am. There was just that one bunch there so it really did feel like a present from the universe :)

Thanks Homegrown. Definitely going to get the NSDs back and a new plan is underway.:)
