Not the pesky squirrels again , I bet you have the squirrel man on speed dial. I think you need to do a few sums as well for the loan. You are living on less at the minute so would you be able to afford the repayments. I am sure you will come to a good decision and move forward accordingly .

Hello DIA. You've done so well with the amount of work you've had done. Well done. I'm the same as you in not being comfortable with having people in, so maybe I also need to look for females to come and do the work I have.

I'm the same as you in that I have so many things I want fixed and decorated and no current work stability. While I'm in this mode I'm just putting as much aside as I can in the hope that once I know I have a job for the longer term I can just push forward with lots of things at once. Then if work isn't stable and I'm unemployed for a while I have those savings as a safety net.

Just my input, although you're doing so much better than I am!

Thanks MT, I think your plan of squirrelling away as much as you can until you know more is a good plan. Unfortunately I seem to be spending instead of saving at the moment. When I am back at work I think this will be a good thing for me to do too. :)

I seem to have hit a slump. (It is okay, life is up and down. ) I think the problem is having had the bedroom done it reminded me that I had not used that room for so many years and it made me feel a bit sad for the past me if I am honest. It also threw into light other issues that have gone on years like not having a functioning bathroom, kitchen or even oven. I will do these things, just as I did the bedroom, but where the money will come from I don’t know right now.

Whenever I have problems I feel better with an action plan, so last night I went back through past papers to see if there are any PPI claims I have missed. There are two more I can do and one is a credit card I did not remember having but found a statement for. I am also going to try to reclaim some mortgage arrears fees. I feel quite angry that the papers show how hard they were clobbering me at one stage when I did not have sufficient work.. I am also going to contact two store card providers. Even if they are unsuccessful I feel better knowing I tried.

I need to buy a printer! A phone! A back up drive! All expensive purchases and then my car is due its MOT. So much expense!!

In other news I have stopped sugar and alcohol and simple carbs again. Weight and physical health benefits aside, when I am leaner and fitter and less brain fogged by poor dietary decisions I am better able to handle life. So back on the wagon for me. :T

Hoping you are all okay as we hit the mid-week mark :)

  • I was channelling you this morning as I had someone round, inside the house , to quote on some work. I'm not sure if I can cope with someone in to actually do things. I feel sick even though they have been and gone :(.

You wouldn't think that I earn my living from talking to people, would you? Although I think that is partly why I am so defensive of my space.

I think that if you can finding a way to sort the cash flow for the squirrel prevention then the benefits of less squirrel stress outweighs the planned spend stress.

Sorry you are feeling sick from the work quotes. I really understand that feeling. I hope you find a way of relaxing to put it behind you.

You are right about the squirrels and the stress. I've got to get me head around this and take action.

The last printer I bought for domestic use was an HP Envy, and I got it with the HP Inc deal (where you pay a monthly fee and they send you cartridges when you need them). Ther are differnet rates for different amount of printing, but is usally a month or 3 free at the start, so I went for the xepensive plan printed everything I needed in a one month slow motion paper storm then reverted to the cheap plan at £3.99 a month. The printer was about £50 so not cheap heap, but not dear. However whether it meets your creative needs I don't know - its pretty good though

good luck with your action plan - definitely all worth doing
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

Just checking in to say how brilliant things have moved on. Fantastic progress.
You are a great example to follow. Like you,I get stressed at doing things, sometimes very small things. Am on leave this week so am gradually getting things sorted out. Have realised that I am too hard on myself and want results too quickly. Have cut myself some slack this week and am gradually getting there. I know I can't do everything this week, but making a start is ok. If I feel resistance to doing something I set a timer for 15 minutes to do it. If i get stuck and can't think what to do next I do some ironing for 15mins to release the tension.
If you lived near me I would send my husband over to help. He is a carpenter and does small jobs. He has been fitting a kitchen and has helped his customer with little things inbetween too. One where the plumber had turned off the water and another where flooring has been fitted and the doors no longer open freely. He does talk a lot though so you have to get him back on track!!!!! He does his best for his customers.
    Keep up the good work.
    You'll get there xxx

I also have a little HP printer/ scanner/ copier, I think it cost me £30 and also runs HP Instant Ink. It does fine for me as I only rarely need hard copy, mostly I use it for scanning things into archive. So depending what you need and when, perhaps there is a minimal spend option?

I don't think a back up drive need be very expensive either - and you could consider cloud storage rather than hard drive.
