20/20 Vision (repaying a debt to my home and myself)

I never thought I could be so relaxed with a work person in the house but the lady decorator is so lovely and hardworking. I have complete confidence in her as she is very through in her work. This is going to be a tough month I know but I definitely did the right thing by going ahead with the booking. She arrived at 8.15 and just got on with it! I am so relaxed I ate breakfast and had soup for lunch as there were no nerves to affect my stomach.
I have been active today. Doing drudge work and decluttering (a whole IKEA bag’s worth)
I have been removing furniture from the living room. It looks so much better with less in it. I had a chest of drawers in the living room that will be going back to the bedroom when it is finished.
I am at my target of 15/15 NSDs for January and that is my best NSD total ever as on NSDs I don’t do any spending at all
Yesterday I felt stressed out as the phone I purchased did not recognise my SIM so I need to take it back. Cue lots of youtube videos trying to work out why.
So, still no phoneBut today I feel more able to handle everything. Tomorrow I will take the phone back.
Thanks beanie, homegrown and drawingaline for your positive posts
Off to wash more dishes…

That's fab news! Might be worth asking the lady decorator if she has other tradespeople she can recommend for the future? She might have a little network you can tap into?
Well done on the NSDs. That's awesome! Now you know you can do it, there's nothing stopping you in the tight month aheadSealed Pot Challenge 075

Yay! Good to hear about decorator. I am thinking about paying someone to do some of my decorating rather than attempting it myself.

Thanks Rosa. Yes I am pleased.
I have lots of cracks, so for me it is making the walls good so I can paint them myself in future. I am doing the woodwork so that will be my decorating project. I've been watching youtube so I can see how it is done.
I think you should get a decorator if you can, already I can see she is much more skilled than I will probably ever beIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

I made vegetable soup and as I chopped veggies I thought, and here’s what I came up with:
The decorator is due tomorrow so I am letting her come. She has already been put off a few times and if I do so again so close to her coming I think I will lose her. I feel comfortable with her so she is important for now and in the future too.
I am going to buy a cheap phone today that I will keep as a back up and also have for guests who come to stay in future from abroad. This will be a dumb phone to keep costs down. There are some cute Nok1as that are considered ‘retro’ I quite like. I will buy a new/better phone in March when the car is through the MOT.
I will pay the fuel bill.
I have minimal petrol so lots of walking and only using the car if necessary.
I will eat from stores/freezer and keep a very low profile. I won’t starve. I have something that I will post on Gumtr33 that might raise a few pounds. If successful I will keep that as fun money so I keep my spirits up.
This works but there is absolutely no wiggle room and that is scary. Anything could happen! It reminds me of when I was in debt. So I will really work on building my emergency fund back up again in the Spring.
Wishing you all a positive week
That sounds very sensible DIA and I'm sure it will work well. A cheap phone would be good as a temporary measure. And it will be very nice for you to have your room decorated.

I'm glad the lady decorator was so nice and hard working :T. I completely agree about nice people tending to know nice people. I hope she can recommend lovely builders, plumbers etc.
If you lived near me I could recommend some people who do building work, plumbing and decorating and are really polite and pleasant to have in the house. All my relatives and friends use them too.
