When it says 'route/location unreachable' it just means the position you want to go to is off road.
  • Bought one today in Sainsburies on offer - £50 off. They also had a better model which also had £50 off Medion again but can't remember the model. Kepp your eyes peeled!
  • After using it a few times this past week for interviews and the likes, it is worth having it on incase the other one fails. A place for interview in durham, myguide/igo refused to take me to saying route unreachable, and even tho they use the same teleatlas maps, tomtom allowed it no problem. Even tho when I left I loaded up the other software and it recognised the street names no problem. Postcode search in TomTom is much better to find some addresses, although now that I have experienced the other I do prefer the overall less cutesy interface of the iGo/MyTravel software.

I would however still put on iGo in place of the mytravel built in software, as that is the fully featured version of the software ur currently using. Also there are apparently issues of the cutdown version MyTravel not displaying all speed cameras correctly and not sounding the alerts.

Of course thats if you have time to mess :)

I bought a myguide 3100 a few weeks back - works well out of the box as a GPS. However, with a couple of simple changes to files on the SD card you can get to the underlying Windows CE where you can then install other applications (I use mine an MP3 and Video player and sync it with Outlook so have all my contact / calander entries on there).

If you use it as just a GPS then it's not far behind a tomtom and a lot cheaper. If you use it as a PDA as well then it's an amazing bargain.

And if you decide later you want to upgrade to TomTom, you can always install that (legally by purchasing from tomtom site)

  • The Euro maps (they arrive on CDs) could easily be sold to reduce the net price even more :D

I've not read through the rest of the posts as yet on this thread, so this may already have been raised and answered. I have a Navman (not this one but the PiN 570) which was supplied with the Euro maps on the CD Roms. However, you can only access the map of the country you want if you purchase an unlock key from Navman. I understand that this probably applies to all their satnavs, in that they supply the maps on the CD's at time of pyrchase but you must then buy the unlock key for the country you want at approx £70!! Of course it come with the UK already installed.

Just something to possibly be aware of.

I saw the add too - I think they were £149 (maybe £139) and it's the model with the Traffic Message Channel inbuilt.

    Possibly this http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shoppingandservices/gifting/electricals/laptops/05.htm

There has been some confusion over pricing with some staff believing the 210 model is £99.99 - so it might just be that they are actually selling the higher spec model at £99.99 rather than the advertised price of c.£149 ???

I'm getting a sat nav for xmas and my folks spotted the Sony NV-U52 on the Halfords website. I've just tried to reserve one... but Halfords phoned me and said that this product had been recalled - they didn't know why. So if you have one.. you might want to return it.

However, after reading this thread I might opt for the N40i from John Lewis instead!

The N40 is a good unit but has been out of stock for a month and the maps and software are last years, the new maps are out in December, be about £70-£100.
Better to get a unit that comes with new maps like Navman S30/50/70 or ViaMichelin(get a unit with v7 software like the X970T), Mio(model C230,320,520) or some sort of online up-date included, like Tomtom.
Garmin have new maps(City Europe NT2008) appearing on their units, unfortunately many of their units out there for sale at the moment have v9 maps(18months old) on them, be aware, apx £50 to update to 2008.
I realize its more but cheaper than an old unit with new maps.
  • Halfords have TomTom One at an online price of £127.99. Lots of my friends recommend this one. The store price is still about £150.00. I got one today after being messed around trying to get the 3100. I reserved one at a store yesterday and they phoned me to cancel and then the same thing happened today at another store. I was on my way there, over an hour journey, when they phoned me:rolleyes: . The store manager offered to spilt the difference with me and gave me the tomtom for £100 :D :j
