Thanks Midnight! May go down my local Halfords tonight and get one (if in stock)

I am pretty good with these things, got a topfield PVR, so used to customising :)

Is the cig adapter the same as any other sat navs, i.e can you just get one anywhere fairly cheap?
  • erm I am not sure to be honest. You get the cig adapter with it free anyhows.

My mate who got one that same day said he went to try a multiadapter for AC power however said none of his sockets fit properly by a midgies .... I've yet to check that however the cig lighter charger uses the same port. I presume it should be possible to buy an extension for the charger no problem tho as obviously the bit that goes into the socket will be the same :)

I have now got iGo, tomtom, and its own Myguide running along side by side along with divx player :) good sense of achievement when you finally suss it out.

Now I dont suppose any of you have any idea of if any software allows playing of mp3s whilst navigating :)

  • yeah I saw that on there too, but I begrudge buying yet more adapters when it really should have had a compatable socket for a multiadapter or similar. However seeing as they sell the specific adapter I'm guessing it really is a custom sized end.... :( wouldnt be a problem if the cig charger had any real length on it mind
  • we all need a bit of extra length at times!

Midnight Tboy - That's exactly the set up i am after, do you do an express fitting service?
  • so the 3100 is able to run tomtom software? How much does this make the unit with it installed? Or is it cheaper to buy a TT1?

  • the 3100 can run tomtom software yes, I have it running on it now, although you cant do it officially - it basically involves getting the correct version of tomtom software and putting it to the memory card, then editing the bootup txt file on the satnavs flash ram to point to the correct folders. If you already happen to have somehow the tomtom software then it wont cost you any more (presuming you have a memory card).

there is a fair bit of info on how to go about putting the software on and getting it working, though it did take me a few hours to fully suss out - working fine now that it is on though

You can run Tomtom on it but if you haven't already got a copy of Tomtom 5 or 6 your better off buying a Tomtom ONE UK for £127 from Dixons or the Europe one for £144. Tomtom software on its own is about £60-80.
Having said that there is nothing wrong with the original Myguide software, its based on Igo which is also used by Mio, Novogo and Iguidance, just look around the web to see how many maps you can get for it.
