My granddad used to flick the switch on his hearing aid off everytime my mother's eyebrows lifted to tell him off about something under the pretence of scratching his ear.

Is it not possible to do something similar with yours? A bit of silence might be rather handy.
Oh, I do this all the time - usually when he has some particularly piffly piffle on the tv. And I don't bother with the pretence of scratching my ear, either. :D On one memorable occasion, I picked up my plate, knife and fork and went and sat in the kitchen to eat my meal. :D

LW... he isn't a mind reader...use your words chicky..... tell him he is being a douche!
*sigh* Does the phrase "In one ear and out the other" ring any bells? I tell him frequently, even though my stomach does somersaults when I do (memories of a violent father and a violent KH who both used their fists if one dared to disagree with them in any way, shape or form).
He invariably goes all Spanielly, says he'll "do better" - and of course, nothing changes.
Worry not - I was offloading on here, as it's a safe place to do so. ;)

Devil Cat not a happy little chap so extra, extra cuddles today. OH seems to have accepted the situation.
Oh dear; I hope it's just cos of the missed tablet. Virtual cuddles coming his way; plus a heap of feel-better vibes.

Round 1 done except for checking date on EHIC - because it's not where it should be ... and nor is DS's passport  Glad I looked now and not two days before he goes to Budapest!! I'm hoping DS knows where they are ... but GF is here so I'll ask later.

  • Up for two and half hours. He's tired.

Feels 'perfectly fine, but it was raining and didn't get much sleep on Friday/Saturday, it's a bank holiday and it's a time to rest'.

How did I manage to bite back 'BANK HOLIDAYS ONLY MEAN SOMETHING TO THOSE WHO WORK'?

Thanks everyone for all of the vibes for Devil Cat. We arranged for the vet to come this afternoon. We've known for a year it was inevitable and have been very, very lucky that he was such a plucky little chap. Until Monday last week we've almost allowed ourselves to hope that he could be the first cat ever to survive this type of cancer. The miracle is that he survived six months longer than most others and because OH was brilliant at dosing him up. For the last two months he's been waking up at 5.00 am to give the little man his first dose of the day. Yesterday it became obvious that there wouldn't be any more good times, only just coping times, and that's not good enough. We're both utterly heartbroken.
    Better is good enough.

Aww hugs for Devil Cat and you HB. Have spent most of the day doing paperwork for DHs business. So it's not been a very restful BH weekend but it has been a very productive one.

However, DS2s missing passport has not turned up and during the reorganisation of my office I seem to have lost a cheque.

I was hoping to get a few deep cleaning jobs done this weekend but that hasn't happened so will tack them onto the flying as I go along. Feet up now, early night I think.

I'm back. It was eventful as I had car trouble...fixing a meal then I will get on with the new thread.

No internet there (there was supposed to be but something's not right) hence my 'silence'.
