Sadly, I'm pretty sure that changed earlier this year.

Nope. We did it last week.

I can do 3 nights anywhere with just hand luggage.
If it’s the US I go in my old clothes, buy new for the return and give the old to the thrift store.

I did a fortnight in Japan and Korea with just cabin baggage.

Seat selection at the time of booking economy with S'pore Airlines is complimentary or payable depending on the fare class - lite / standard / Flexi.

Be careful what you wish for regarding paying extra to sit beside undesirables. It wasn't that long ago when you booked a package holiday it included hold baggage, food, entertainment and transfers in the package. And it was highly likely you would sit together on the plane.
Now some companies are looking to charge to guarantee a sunbed at the pool. Where will it all end?

Yes, I remember booking one of those to Benidorm 35 years ago. We sat in the travel agents for about 2 hours before eventually getting a deal (?) at £250 each !!! (4 sharing a 1 bedroom apartment) we flew from Manchester because we didnt want the £90 each supplement to fly from Scotland.

Oh the good old days eh?

I said, but prices change every day,so to say that somebody booking the same flight as I did in December will pay more is rubbish...they may well pay less, but get the seating included.

That logic would apply whether they'd changed their policy or not. I don't see how that's relevant at all.

We are going on an 11 hour BA flight. Unfortunately on our last long haul I had someone sitting next to me who also took up a lot of my seating space which meant a very uncomfortable flight, he was embarrassed but could not move over and I was very uncomfortable and felt very awkward. To avoid this, I have been on-line and booked a row with just 2 seats which has cost £64 per person each way. I am not leaving it to chance as a friend who works for BA has confirmed the flight is full. I cannot believe I have had to pay this price to have some comfort. Disgraceful BA.

Unfortunately large people fly as well, could you not of had a discreet word with one of the flight attendants about a seat switch?

If you are too fat to fit in a seat without spilling over into the space of the seat next to you, you should be forced to buy a second seat or pay to travel in PE or J.

Of course if you are travelling with a companion of normal size, and you are only spilling out into their space, it's not a problem.

The logic is that I was told we got a cheaper price for our booking than someone booking after the 18th March would pay.

Prices change many times times a day,so that logic doesn’t apply.

They may well pay more for their booking, they may also pay less as airline prices are not set at one price.

Basically we have what is now classed as a Budget classic booking, but without the free seat choice.New bookings are “classic” option including seat choice.
If this was 100% going to cost anyone booking now more money...as I was told on the phone...I wouldn’t have an issue, but that is not guaranteed to be the case...they may well pay less.

Is that so hard to understand?

I'm tall. No fault of my own. I've been paying extra to have some comfort for years.
