I would not even consider surgery just for one eye.
The reason, well once i was wearing contact lenses and accidentally one of the lens came out and i could not put back on again. Instantly i had real problem focusing as one eye could see things clearly but the other could not, within 10mins or so i started to get headache and in the end i had to take the other lens out of my eye to get some relief.
If i was offered the option to have surgery in one eye, i would definitely consider both.
For people who are considering just one eye surgery i would suggest they experiment by putting a contact lens in one eye only & see for yourself how would you feel/see. I guess those guys making that offer realise that it would be hard for people to have surgery in just one eye!0 -
Wow what a great prize, but i think i would also be really nervous about having it done, its good ur doing a bit of research first. Best to check it out. Hope all goes well for you x2021 Please Be A Better Year0

My mum & step dad have both had their eyes done with Ultralase. They can both see so much better now, although mum did have to go back & have one of her eyes re-done (free of charge) as it hadn't corrected the sight properly.
Now though that are both really happy as they save a fortune on not having to buy contact lenses & have no problems with hunting around for their glasses at home
Congrats to both you & RR on winning - having seen the difference it made to my parents lives, I'd go for it if it was me.
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

That sound really familiar - the number of people who tell me I'm pig ignorant for ignoring them.:o
Having worn glasses since I was 11 (now 43), I'll probably spend hours searching for them even if I don't need them anymore. I think I'll have to search out my old prescription to see the difference in the two eyes - can't see the big letter at the top of the chart with the one! (Chart, what chart?)
weaver - ta for the link, off there for a poke around now.
Thanks for all the comments guys, will definitely do more research, and will almost certainly go for the consultation.; Watch this space. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Had mine done at Optimax in Liverpool last year. Dr Madhusudhan (Madhu for short) is excellent I would definitely recommend him.Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

Hi
I just recently won the same prize with Optimax and had my eyes done just over a week ago! Hopefully I can give you some information that might be useful. My eyes are (were) -3.5 and -3.25 with some astigmatism in one.
I had real problems to begin with as although they say you have won ONE eye, what they are really trying to offer is a half price for both eyes. It took a lot of conversations and emails to head office until they agreed to treat just one of my eyes for free. I had originally asked this when I booked the consultation appointment and they reassured me I could just have the one eye done for free and not need to pay any more, but in practice at the Croydon clinic they seemed confused by this.
it isn't really a prize, more of a promotion. I finally got agreement to only have one eye done, and then changed my mind and decided to pay for the other one myself. I won Lasik (the more expenseive option, but the pain is much less and the recovery time quicker than Epi-Lasek).
It is a bit of a production line, you have to wait around for your consultation appointment (a refundable £60 which they did take off my fee for the other eye), and then you have to wait around on the same dayfor the op, or you can book it for another day - which I did and it was much better, in and out very quickly.
The op was very quick, uncomfortable in the way that knowing anyone is peeling back part of your eyeball to laser it is, but not painful, just one sharp pain that lasted a millisecond, that apparently not everyone gets anyway.
My eyes were really watery and I couldnt' open them afterwards very well, but about three hours after that they were much better.
You have to wear eye shields taped over your eyes for a week, and put lots of drops in, but the next morning my sight was pretty good and at the check upthe next day I was one line under perfect sight!
I am due to go back for another check up this friday, I have some slight haze, but not much and that should apparently go in time - though in some cases it can remain.
All in all I would recommend it, it's lovely being without glasses or contacts.
Good luck

hi mate, could u please state how bad your eye sight was? i.e -2, -3 etc?
cheers
Hi there,
My eye sight was -4 in one eye -5 in the other. I have perfect vision now. I had it on a friday, and went back to work on the tuesday. The watery eyes bit is annoying only because I was so impatient, I wanted to go out everywhere and try out my new eyes. Obviously you have to give them time to heal and adjust, be careful not to get them infected, but I had no problems like that, I was just so damn excited to see the world in a whole new light. It still makes me happy to remember that brilliant feeling:j0 -
Well done on your win
