I had my eyes treated about a week ago. I am however concerned as my glasses prescription has been -4.5 for the left and -8.5 for my right, but optimax told me that they find my right eye to be -7.5 and thats what they will go with. I can see perfectly with my left eye but not so clearly in the right. However they did say it will take time to settle as it was a high precription to start with. Im quite worried, did they under correct me?? has anyone else had blurred vision or does it take time to settle???0

            Hiya
I'm not an opthalmologist but I am a doctor and would recommend consulting a specialist before considering laser eye surgery, not all in the profession advocate it & there is some controversy over certain procedures. Your GP can arrange this if you ask. I know it's a godsend for some, but it's important not to mess up your eyes!

I would love it done but would be so scared of anything going wrong, so I will stick with my glasses.0

I'm going along for the consultation on 14 November. I don't think it's a scam because they made me get more info from the optician before they'd agree to the consultation due to a lazy eye, which may have ruled out surgery at all. Also they've confirmed from my prescription that I only need one eye doing, instead of talking me into both, and they've given me 2 weeks between the consultation and the surgery (at my request) to give me time to think about it. I've had a slightly scary consent form, giving details of possible side effects, with plenty of time to read it before the appt. So I'm going to look up my surgeons detailas ( they've given me his name), go along to the consultation, then decide after that.
How much it hurts depends on the type of surgery - I've been offered the Lasik treatment which is quicker recovery time - only 2 days off work if all goes well. Reading the forum link given earlier, the epi-lasik which is cheaper takes longer to recover and is more painful. I don't think it hurts while they do it, (there's a burning smell though:eek: ) but it might be uncomfortable afterwards.
All I can say is do all the reading around it that you can, and phone the company with lots of questions. If they can't answer them, or try to talk you into something you don't want/need, then watch out for the warning bells.
I'll let you know how I get on.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Well, I've been for my consultation, and I'm all confused. He said my eyes were suitable for the lasik treatment, but he recommended the epilasik because of the risk of getting hit in the eye, due to my job, but I could have either, it was up to me.
The lasik is less painful, quicker recovery time and free, the epilasik hurts more, has a longer recovery, and I have to pay, but might be safer for me.
Having got all psyched up to go ahead, I'm thinking perhaps I might stick to my glasses after all. I really want the quicker lasik treatment, but even if the chance of it going wrong are small (which they are), not sure I want to take the chance.
Back to t'internet for more research! All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

go for a consultation with another clinic if your unsure - they are free and see what they say - I went with acuvision 2 and half years ago - no pain at all, (yes I do mean NO pain ) could see and read same day. At work next day no problems at all and still perfect 20/20 vision. my sight was -3.5 in both eyes with astigmatism in one. I know 3 others who went to acuvision and had wave front and all had no pain, one went right back to work after it.
Id have laser surgery again, sooner than go to the dentist, a filling hurts more.
Mine was wave front not lasik or lasik which can Ive heard be painfulThanks to everyone who posts comps :T0
