  • Himself is in the bath, enjoying the sparkliness of the room. Strange how he always seems to need one as soon as I've cleaned it, isn't it? For a change, I at least got in there first (I had got distracted watching a film last night) - my bath was at about 3am in pitch darkness with some fancy bath oil, which was very relaxing.

I mentioned stupid o'clock baths to a colleague a few weeks ago and he came back one day beaming and saying it was an absolutely genius idea, as with a small pack of children and an impossibly glamorous wife, he couldn't remember the last time he'd had a bath without somebody banging on the door wanting attention/a wee/a dispute settled/use of the mirror or hearing constant noise in the background.

Debating whether to do anything much today. Woke up late, so thinking finishing off the last bits of cleaning is probably quite enough before eating lots and trying to find a film to watch.

That's pretty much how I feel, if it's any consolation.
I just want to sit under the table and howl.

Question: If the bathroom was steam-cleaned yesterday within an inch of it's life, the loo thoroughly degrotted, the bath list taken into as many bits as it can be to clean, and everything was wiped over with a completely clean cloth, how can the bathroom be niffy again just 20 hours after the task was finished??
Mr LW claims he can smell nothing at all in there, so I'm beginning to wonder if it's my phantosmia manifesting again. :(

Depends what it's whiffing of. Could be the sewer outlet is slightly backed up, the cistern has some mould inside, there's a slight leak, there's a little patch of damp issues in the floorboards or the sink traps are partially blocked by hair/soap residue. Or he's not hitting the mark/getting symptoms of needing to get his prostate checked out and hasn't wanted to worry you/admit that he's dribbling when he thinks he's finished.

What's the flooring made of? Overspray can soak into almost anything, especially if the joins aren't completely sealed.

Must buy caster sugar as have none - though I have icing, demerara, soft brown and dark brown. All stored in repurposed Douwe Egberts coffee jars.
Car vacuumed out. Washing brought in. Made DD's bed as she will be coming home sometime this week and remade mine, both ewith fresh bedding.

    Fun afternoon for me..

    6 binbags/boxes for CS
    5 binbags of rubbish
2 ebeast items sold.. £30 for me!!
10 more things found to list later today
    2 binbags for DD1

WM all up to date and dry.. need to fold it though
DW x 2 .. DS3 was bossed to do a load, he was NOT a happy bunny.

I also had the boys sort their boxes of dudes/animals/tat and box up what they want to keep so I can put it in the loft.. and get rid of what they don't want any more.. lots of flingage there. that cleared a good chunk of space in DD3's room

Twinkle is crying at me because I won't let her go back outside to play!! She is absolutely full of cold and it's chilly out there now and getting dark.

We have 4 dolls buggies... 4... WHY?? 2 are new I think and the other 2 are played with very little.. Twinkle likes them so we have one down to be trashed by her no doubt.. then we can get out another.

To go I have tea set (which I might fling in the playhouse with their wooden kitchen) and a box of dolls and accessories.. none of mine have EVER played with dolls. The only things they every play with are the duplo and the little people.. why do I have everything else?

Girls books sorted a little so lots more are on the shelf and cleared some of their floor.. it is so full of rubbish in there.. what does one do with all the toys? I can't sell them locally because I don't do people.. I'd rather send them to CS than have people come to my house.. yes I am that nutty! Dressing up is being washed and sent to school.

    Monday..
    Swapping mothers chairs
    making nail fix appointment
    dropping gubbins at CS
    Tip run
    figure out the CoD/bookcase problem
Boss OH to find the dust sheets
buy filler for bedroom ceiling and fill holes, sand.
    Emulsion ceiling in DD3's room.
    2nd gloss coat in bathroom..

I think that is Monday full !

Bed time for grotbaggy smalls.. Dot is delighted I located her unicorn nightie so she is super excited tonight.

Ground floor vacuummed, dining room window degrotted, office tidied. Summer chairs brought down from the attic and dusted off, so they can finally be used again now that the hostess trolley's gone and there's space behind the dining room door.

Nap decluttered. I never nap, but I fell asleep this afternoon with Devil Cat on my chest. I have no idea how much longer we'll have him because he should have gone months ago but he's still enjoying life even if he looks very, very odd and we have to scrub carpets because he's bled all over them. And all the bedding. He's still eating, washing, purring, choosing to sit in the sun and doing all the things a normal, well cat does. Amazing little chap.

Kelpie's been groomed again. He still won't let me use the brush anywhere near his tummy or armpits but his trousers and tail look fabulous.
    Better is good enough.

Roundtuit hugs x I am exactly the same. Feeling really down. I am carrying on as normal and not giving in to it. As you say, it will pass. Not looking forward to the week though.

I have been reorganising the furniture in my little home office. I am not happy with the end result. I possible need to rejig things again but not today.

Mountains of washing done. Bit of a tidy around, long dog walk.

Pigpen, please PM me if you have anything that might be suitable for our new toddlers' group and could be posted.

I don't quite know where this week has gone. Yesterday I had a migraine, but it had gone by lunchtime today so DH and I took Rosie for a walk in the sunshine up one of the big hills nearby (not the usual one). She had great fun chasing after the smell of rabbits, and he got some exercise for the first time this week, even if it was at snail's pace. Rosie and I did an extra lap at high speed.

My house is a grimy tip and the sunshine is showing up all the scuff marks and the dirty windows  and the garden also needs attention. I should like to spend an hour or two every morning this week cleaning and an hour in the afternoon gardening, but I shall be amazed if I manage it every day. In between times, I have to start prepping my next essay and take Rosie for a walk. Also, I've still got to clear my RoD, and DH has another doctor's appointment some time this week. But the paperwork pile is going down, albeit very slowly.

See you on the new thread x
