Battery in the key fob
My DS has a Vauxhall Astra - 62 plate.
The dashboard message said to the change battery in key fob but we've done that and it still doesn't function properly. All 4 windows are going down fully and it's making a funny clicking noise when we try to use it.
I saw some historic posts about syncing the battery in the ignition - would this help with this problem or do you think the new battery is dodgy and we are better to try something else?
Any help or advice appreciated.

Have you tried you spare Key?
yeh - the spare key is fine it's just the primary key that had the warning on the dash to change the battery and now doesn't work after a battery change.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Isn!!!8217;t the re sync procedure in the handbook?0

Re-sync procedure:
Insert your ignition key and turn it to position II. The instrument lights will come on. The car is now in synchronisation mode for approx 10 seconds. During this period, press the open button, then the lock button on your fob in turn and repeat until the locks open and close as they should.0 -

It's like a TV remote with a low battery sending half a signal but because the TV might use code 1234 to turn the volume up, but code 12 for on/off it's turning it off every time you adjust the volume.
With a TV that's acceptable (no real harm and no need for security verification of the input), but with a car's remote locking you'd hope anything other than a valid code would be ignored (and that anything like remote window controls would use a different codeset or be disabled on models where the car wasn't meant to support it).0 -
Do you think this is an intermittent problem that would possibly happen again even though the resync has fixed the problem for the moment?
Should we also take it to an autoelectrician?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. doubt it, they'll probably say new key/fob and big bill from dealer. I had an old vectra that needed the remote fob resyncing on a semi-regular basis...just resync when needed......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0
