Thanks all. Yes it’s great news if it comes off. Plan to kick into serious decorating mode tomorrow. Using up existing supplies but spent £10 on a few bits eg. wallpaper paste. But if that’s all it costs us to get the room ready I’ll be delighted!

Hope everyone had a good day - just back from seeing friends for dinner. Got a 50% discount on our food so very pleased at that :D

:rotfl: it’s an unusual event SA I can tell you - we were in London so a trip back for us on the motorway. Me and one friend shared a bottle but otherwise alcohol bill was small which makes a huge difference I always think

In good news as December closes out we will only have spent 71% of our income - saving/debt reduction and investments were 29% - despite Christmas and a big donation to charity. Oh and the household insurance. The tax bill I am not counting for the purposes of this. It’s good news. By paying an obsessive amount of attention to the finances we are really beginning to right the household ship. Am not sure the obsessive attention will (or should) last but for now it’s saving our backsides. I am going into a new decade certain that we will pay off the debt and the mortgage during the 2020s.. probably by 2025 if we keep this up and there are no nasty set backs. I am aiming for 2023 but that may be too much especially if we want to pump money into pensions and EFs etc as the tax treatment when we are earning makes such good sense. I’d also like to retire and for that I need to be FI. So best get cracking!!! :rotfl:

Looks like we have managed to sort the room for the lodger for about £10. As long as I can find a double duvet!! I am not sure but one may be at uni...
