DD1 is off to uni and we have promised her a lot of help to try and reduce what she needs to borrow from the outset.
You probably have done so already but if not read up on what :money: says about student loans....make perfect sense! We helped out our DDs but encouraged them to take the max loan they could which of course was dependent on our income anyway and OK being in Wales student loans are/have been more "generous" in that NAW pay more of the tuition fees but how the loans are paid back are calculated the same I believe.Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Just caught up with two months' worth of your diary brizzle!
Sorry to hear about your overdraft but the post you wrote setting out your actions to remedy the aftermath was sensible and doable. Well done!
Hope you are all having a fantastic holiday in Spain!

Hi all :hello:
It was a fabulous holiday. One definite advantage to being away with teenagers is that they sleep in allowing for lazy mornings reading under a parasol by a pool, looking out to seait was an amazing holiday. Definitely decompressed much faster by having been there before. Need to remember that. Was totally relaxing.
We tried to be very frugal. Only ate out once. Ate fabulous food cooked at home. Honestly the prices were so so reasonable. Ok there were two families so you are bulk buying but the supermarkets were so reasonable despite the poor exchange rate. I can see why so many Brits go to Spain for their retirement. Started one of my goals for this year - to improve my French - but really should have done Spanish :rotfl: as where we were was so refreshing, not a single English accent until we reached the water park at Torremelinos :rotfl:0 -
It was a fun day though. We saved loads by flying in and out on late flights so to make the most of the final day we checked out late and then went to the water park. Great way to spend the final day - to be recommended. Despite the inevitable delays on way home, all good.
Any road up. Back to earth with a bang now. Came home to find a muck up with the bank and our OD. They had reduced to £0. An hour later OH had them agreeing to reduce it by half which is what we agreed on the last call we had. Agh. I wonder if it’s a sign. Our credit rating isn’t as good as it was. We do need to improve that. But until we pay off the HMRC account and get shot of this CC debt think we are in a bind. Still July 2020 is less than a year awayneed to hold onto that.
I was thinking our grocery bill is high but then OH pointed out it was £25 per person per week so he isn’t surprised we exceed this most months, especially with organic meat, veggies, milk, coffee (where’s that emoji eye roll :rotfl:) but what do you folks spend? It’s definitely the area that I assume we could cut back on the most, but maybe I am looking st the wrong areas. For example we spend £150 every month on insurance - life and PHI - maybe that’s a better bet. Hard to know so advice and comments and observations welcomed!
Anyhow, must stop and instead catch up on diaries and a bit of work. Have. A great evening all x0
