Hi greent, yes it was a shock. But we are now seeing a silver lining. We are having to face into the fact that we do have an OD and these other debts, and need to get rid of them. Which we were working on, but it’s added even more pace into the mix,
One tweak since I last posted. Have put in place an emergency fund so that we don’t get caught out and can really eliminate using the CCs. Having said that I did have a small pang when we received £25 in JL vouchers this week just from using their CC.....but it’s not worth the risk of an increasing balance.
Have friends coming down this weekend so will haul joints etc out of the freezer for yummy meals and also take part in the big Harbour Festval in town. May stock up and take a picnic as there will be 10 of us, so not only pricey if we go to a cafe for lunch but will also be a big table to fit in..so think that’s the narrative for the weekend. Am sure our friends will be pleased at not haemorrhaging cash too..what’s not to like
Have a good day folks

ooo, nasty banks.... that was one of my husbands downfalls when the bank cut his OD (plus his selling of assests and lack of income )
I feel its all a bit tight at the mo too. I'm doing up our house on credit cards which have reached huge totals for me anyway. A few friends have had broken limbs in the last couple of years leading to significant time off work, I do get good sick pay but not to the level enhanced pay for nights or weekends. Thankfully the work will stop in the coming weeks to allow me to get to grips with paying them all off.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend. Our guests have just left after a great time, the free Harbour Festival was a joy and we cooked lots of yummy food so pretty cheap.
Now off to a class before the weekday grind begins again

Glad you had a good weekend. We must come up for the Harbour Festival one year."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

You should. To my embarrassment we have never been before but it was great, The circus area was particularly fun..the mime and the baby race will stick in my mind for a long time :rotfl: simply hilarious.
Back home now after 2 stressful work days. Am now completely trashed. But have treated myself to a glass of wine and as I am the only one in will feel not a pang of guilt at just cruising the internet, reading the paper and MSE diaries...blissful (and long overdue!!)

Having a lovely weekend with DD1 and OH, DD2 is away.
Gearing up for the big new budget on 1st..it will be tough but we see no option but to go for it. My new tax code is reducing my income, the tax bills etc (as you know) will be big this year and DD1 is off to uni and we have promised her a lot of help to try and reduce what she needs to borrow from the outset.
We are in holiday with friends at the end of the week. One day’s activities has already been paid for and we all love to cook, so am hoping we can keep spends to a minimum whilst still enjoying our time there. I imagine it’ll be scorching as it’s in Spain....so maybe that just means it’s fish and salads every day
Quiet day planned today, a bit of packing and organising for holidays and hopefully some exercise.
Have a great day all
