Absolutely shattered. Brutal end of the week and going again with another long day and travel tomorrow... ugh.
Money wise it’s tight. Supertight. A spendthrift few weeks are really setting us back, as will the tax bills that are gently accruing.
Roll on the weekend
Love to all x0 -

Thanks all.
Sitting enjoying the warmth and reading the paper after a big wake up call on the money front. Bank decided to cut our overdraft (I hadn’t been picking up messages) and caused some panic. That led to some soul searching by me and OH. Serious soul searching, and in his case, not a little panic. Not great. The fragility of our financial base, despite decent incomes, was being laid bare. This was on top of some seriously high tax bills which will be payable at the end of the year. This was confirmed a couple of weeks ago, and I knew then that my previous goal and budget was under serious stress.
So, we have pulled it together and have done the following:
1. New YNAB for next month. Based on the Barefoot philosophy of 60% for household spend, the reminder to go towards debts. Minimal Splurge and Smile categories until we have got rid of the tax bill.
2. Have raided the ISA and pulled out half, to pay some bills
3. No more spending on CCs, it’s too risky. There is one for emergencies, but the remainder will be left at home.
4. Everything we spend must be agreed by both of us. No exceptions.
5. We have to change..it’s the layering that does for us. One nice thing a week is fine, and manageable, but we have got to the point when we don’t just have one, instead it’s then another and so it carries on. We need to make choices between things and substitute more.
On this point we have decided to make a nice dinner at home to celebrate OH’s upcoming birthday. Most years we would have just gone out. The other thing is that we want to support DD1 at uni, this all means that we need to be super careful.
In good news, if we get real and stick to it, we will be through of it all this time next year. So only extending the pain by 4 months from my original date of April 2020.
Thank god. And bring it on. We will do this...
Thanks for all your support

Sorry to hear about the overdraft.
Great plan though, and not much extended. Good luck with it!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Thanks lovelies...
A good day today. Had brunch with a friend in the garden..in the 'old days' (well not so old) I would have gone out. Was much more relaxed and buying toppings for our pancakes cost me £8. 5 of us ate so a bargain.
DD1 is now about to prepare a nice vegan dinner. Another cheaper meal
Have a great weekend everyone. My work week is pretty crazy, but hope to catch up on diaries soon. Hope you're all flourishing
Thanks for popping by

Ooof! to the bank cutting the OD - however, you're still looking at having it all gone in just over a year - that's no time at all, really :T And the pancake brunch sounds a bargain - and totally yummy!
