All good thanks
lovely restorative time withe dear friends. Already planning the next trip
Bit sombre again. Still don't know what my liability will be for going back to permanent and my old accountant is not being unduly helpful to my new one..so suspect it will be a while before I find out. I took much less income last month than usual and so with Christmas spends and being probably over generous with presents to some family members (I suspect I did this as an emotional gesture to make up for being uncommunicative the rest of the time) all means that our savings were nil. In fact we slightly overspent. Needs to be remedied this month for sure. Most categories were no more than last month, its the smaller income that has done it.
I am sticking to the Barefoot Investor principles and structuring like this on YNAB. Need to go onwards and upwards and relentlessly drive this debt down. Turn on the fire extinguisher to full pelt!
On a smaller note, have listed stuff on F/C and the Bay. DD2 working pretty well if a tad grumpily and plans for Xmas well underway. Have decluttered well today and many more AFDs. Exercise was woeful though. Life could be a darn sight worse. Need to be be grateful, very grateful for all that we have. Will update sig with new goals now.
Will be digging out my library card too - now I am planning to be largely working from home, returning books to the library seems like much less of a hassle and it will save. And..in these times of austerity we need to support local services.
Roast org. chicken in the oven too...and tonnes of local organic veggies from our box. Making Yorkshires to make it stretch and have meal planned to use up the rest later this week. Kids also have meal making duties next week to ease the burden for me and OH. I will also add in some focused cleaning duties..they dont see the mess and grime the way I do
Have a good Sunday all x0 -
Hi Brizzle, lovely to hear about your new role and all will no doubt be fine. This change malarkey is always a pain in the bum but inevitably worthwhile,
Maybe 2019 can be our year to catch up :rotfl:

Yes Tilly..we definitely need to do that
I'll DM you
I have made some progress, thanks jwil, got a forecast from the accountant which is a bit grim but at least I know where I need to head. Stressful for sure, but certainty is everything to me. Have done some shuffling but keen not to touch the S&S ISA at the moment as it would crystallise paper losses...and all that. But at the moment I think I can get there by a thread. Fingers crossed anyway.
In more financial matters, OH got a cheque for a small amount from HMRC last week..a small rebate. Today he gets a letter saying he owes them....baffling... basically who knows which (or if any) are correct....its hard to say...
Off to class now. Have to make use of the membership. Wonder if PF is running again..must check out her diary.. and whatever happened to Lady Gnome..has anyone 'seen' her recently?

That's a shame - imagine if you could train a small army of chickens to visit all the survey sites daily!! :rotfl::rotfl:I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -

Another low spend day. Thankfully. DD1 bought cat food and I bought 2 Christmas presents for friends overseas which will be easy to post. Must just make sure I send them this weekend. £25 max. today. It’s getting better. Just need to keep on it. Also pulled across £25 from TCB..good news :j must update the signature with its woeful total.
Hope everyone is doing well. Mid week is officially over and we are careering towards the weekend....deep joy...even though plenty of stuff needing to happen before Saturday in my housebut at least its in sight...

Not impressed..just lost a fairly long post...this cheapie internet package has its drawbacks...
Anyhow.. have cleared the larder and hopefully the expanding foam now in the gaps between the floor and walls will stop the rodentsThey had a nice route in I see... made me think of Pod and Arrietty in the Borrowers :rotfl:... Bargain from our amazing local DIY store at £6.95. I'll take that.
Kids off our hands this evening so am taking OH out. But a BYO and from our Splurge money. Barefoot Investors will know what I mean. We need it. Been a trying week emotionally. But...money is tight so we need to keep a good handle on it all. I am trying to be very thoughtful about what I buy and why. Food purchases are well down which always helps.0
