If it helps my DFD isn't until 2027..... down from 2032 !!!

Hi there Chimp Choker ( I'm trying not to let the images that that name conjurs up enter my head !:))

I just wanted to say thanks for you earlier post. I was having a very bad Monday morning! I do still have issues with my job, but think I can grin and bear it until something better comes along. I sympathise with your wife's situation- i have a good friend who is a teacher and know how stressful it can be, which isn't always helped by most peoples perception being that it is a "cushy" number what with "all the holidays!"

Anyway, I'm confused by your maths and your DFD. You appear to have paid off £26,000 in just over two years so why is your DFD so far away? On that basis shouldn't it be in about 4 years?

Evening all! I think collectively what we need to focus on maybe is baby steps? This debt lark is a bind but when you look at pepys who are splashing the non existant cash I dont know about you but I dont envy them any more so thats been a big step for me as I've rediscovered the simple pleasures in life, something I never would have while I was madly spending! (ie 200+ on chanel face stuff...nuts!) The main thing is that we plod and we'll all get there in the end! Big hugs for people struggling ... if you are look at what things were like at the start, see where you are now & be proud of what you have achieved so far! Hugs re your dtr Ltm...teenaged years are hard but at least you will be bringing her up to know what is important and of value...Well done chimp choker & poor babe...dont worry Wendy - we all have months when it goes pear shaped. Just try to learn from it & move on...stronger & with more knowledge of how to deal with it next time :)

Thanks ISOM! We are exactly the same as you in that we have started to enjoy the simple pleasures in life & we will never go back to the way we were. OH used to fritter away cash on everyday things whilst i was the one who spent a fortune on expensive clothes, gadgets etc. So glad that we've broken our habits as things are slowly but surely beginning to work out. Hoping to get a £400 pre tax bonus at the end of the month(mind you we're being made to slog for it:( ) through our new flexibility agreement with work(i'm a postie). Managed to save up £140 towards hols so along with the £300 or so that I will get will just about pay for our hols! Still getting quite a bit of overtime at work but it is going to get more scarce sooner or later. But as long as we do our best to live within or means we should be ok. Hope everyone else is well & keep your chins up.

  • Hi everyone, haven't been around for a while (am really rubbish at logging on regularly!)

Just wanted to check in on everyone and make sure you're all well - I haven't been on MSE in weeks but still firmly on the DFW wagon, no slip ups (which is very unlike me) but I think that now the light is at the end of the tunnel with the DFD it makes things easier.

    Take care all x

Hi all, keeping well & truly on track at the moment, although we've slightly gone a little over budget on the food shopping. Saying that we saved £15 by not putting any petrol in car last week. All being well will get my bonus a week on Friday,so can pay for our hols. The overtime at work starting to dry up a little though. I am off for a week next month,so will spend a day going through SOA to try & save a few more pennies,so we won't have to rely on overtime so much. Hope everyone else is ok!

  • Hi all

LTM good luck with the holiday spending money saving. I felt great to know it was all budgeted ven the small overspend.

Prophecy grrl Im glad your still on the wagon. Im always on here, too afraid Ill fall off!

Overspent on the holiday but still much better than we have done previously. I didnt resort to hiding spending on my cc as usual. So all cash and I know what we spent.

GC is a little tight but redone my annual budget (so impatient me!). I was showing a shortfall of around £1000 including my bonus but now showing a surplus £300 if I stick to budget. So I may be able to bring down my DFD. Im not going to get too excited but when I started this I thought there would be little to no chance of any overpayments.

  • Hi all. I haven't been very good lately so I am returning and will hopefully be a good lassie from now on. DD has a birthday at the weekend. I have already bought her a cable for her laptop but will need to get her something else. I dont go mad at birthdays tbh but I will get her a few wee things. Looks like most of you are doing good things debt wise so I will keep on reading and look to be inspired. xx
