Hi, had a good night last night,but couldn't spend the sort of money we spent on a regular basis. Took DD tenpin bowling. Had 2 games which came to £27.25,a pint of lager,pint of lager shandy & a J20 which came to over £8 & a McDonalds on the way home that came to over £13! We needed a night out though & it was all paid within our budget as I got quite a good wage through overtime. The bowling was great,but didn't last very long as there was only 3 of us playing. Next time we go we're going to ask family or friends if they want to join us to make more of a night of it.Debt at LBM(July 1st 07)-£35,053.92 Debt on 1st Anniversary of LBM(July 1st 08)-£33,170.11 (31st January 09)-£32,318.73Paid off so far £2,735.19(7.8%) Average paid off p.m. £143.95 L/H supporter 115 DFD target February 2018 DFD March 2028. I think we all need a good night out once in a while especially when we have worked hard. Its also good when its in a budget so the cost doesnt add to the worry of more debt.:j0

Lol - you are right ISOM, I know I should tell him, but I just can't. It's partly pride, partly embarrassment at having got myself in this situation, and partly the fear of him bailing me out and then me doing it all over again. I need to maintain some discipline here, and I think that for me, living kinda close to the edge makes me better at managing a budget - you know, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, kinda thing? Well it works that way for me, anyway. I'm sure I will tell him one day, but maybe when I'm sub 30k, it sounds so much better than 40!!0 -
Hi there
I am a member of the DMP Mutual Support Thread, but thought I should probably join this thread too (if I may) as currently my DFD is June 2015. Not bad considering the extent of my debts, but I am in a bit of a quandry at the moment;
I dislike my current job rather a lot, (mild understatement) but have continued to do it cos it pays quite well (well very well I guess) . Part of my LBM was realising that dispite getting paid well, I was getting stressed by a job I hated (was signed off with stress last year) and was still not earning enough to pay all the bills anyway.
So, I thought a DMP would be the way forward and we are due to make our first payment next month. However, my problem is that I have used my current salary in DMP budget, which has produced a payment to CCCS of £1497. This is a good sum of money and with tweaking the remaining budget in other areas, we can probably save a bit more than this to make overpayments etc, and maybe dring DFD forward a year or so.
My problem is that I desperately want to leave my job and because I am not trained for anything else, I would have to take a pay cut, and this would mean reducing DMP payment (not too worried about what creditors will say as they have not been offered anything yet).
I guess my question is this;
Should I consider my work/life balance in overall considertaion of repaying my debts? If i stick to this job (tho god knows if I could do this for another 7 years) the debts will be paid of quicker, but I don't think I am going to be very happy along the way. Alternatively, I could take longer to repay the debt (but probably only another couple of years) by taking a lower paid job but be much happier along the way.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom for me?
EDIT : PS - I really must work on my signature!0 -
Personally if you feel that 7 years is too long I would look to change jobs. Being happy is more important and if the job is a big struggle then I feel you would struggle to find strength to fight being debt free as well. Take a few months to research what you could do.
Welcome to the thread.:j0
